의왕시(시장 김성제)가 사회복지의 날을 맞아 지난 9월 7일 의왕시청 대회의실에서 사회복지에 대한 이해 증진과 사회복지 종사자 격려를 위한 제24회 사회복지의 날 기념식을 개최했다.

이날 김성제 의왕시장, 이소영 국회의원, 김학기 의왕시의회의장과 시의원, 유관기관 관계자, 시민 등 250여 명이 참석한 가운데 열린 1부 기념식에서는 지역복지 발전에 이바지한 사회복지유공자 11명에 대한 표창 수여, 기념사, 축사 등이 이어졌다.

2부 행사에서는 사회복지 종사자들의 재충전을 위해 박성준 풍수연구소장의 ‘사람과 공간 읽기, 그리고 나를 읽기’를 주제로 한 힐링 강연이 진행됐다.

의왕시는 사회복지종사자 사기진작과 처우개선을 위해 보수교육비, 상해보험비를 지원하고, 심리상담, 종사자 교육, 처우개선 위원회 운영 등 지역사회 복지 환경 구축에 적극 나서고 있다.

김성제 의왕시장은 “사회적 약자와 소외된 이웃을 위해 각자의 자리에서 소임을 다하고 있는 사회복지 종사자분들께 감사의 인사를 전한다”며, “앞으로도 시는 사회복지 종사자가 긍지와 자부심을 가지고 일할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는데 만전을 기하겠다”고 말했다.
