안양시의 대표축제인 안양시민축제가 시 승격 50주년을 맞이해 ‘안양춤축제 Anyang Dance Festival’로 명칭을 변경해 오는 9월 20일부터 24일까지 5일간 평촌중앙공원과 삼덕공원 일원에서 개최된다.

‘2023 안양춤축제’는 ‘걷고, 뛰고, 춤추자!’를 슬로건으로 다양한 프로그램을 준비하고 있다. 전국의 댄서를 한자리에 모으기 위한 K-POP 댄스대회 ‘크라운 컴페티션’을 비롯해 자유롭게 춤 출수 있는 ‘스트릿 배틀 대회’와 ‘댄스워크숍’, ‘랜덤 플레이 댄스’ 등이 진행될 예정이다.

안양시민축제는 2000년 처음 개최된 후 2020년부터 ‘춤’을 테마로 코로나19로 인해 온라인과 병행해 진행됐다. 올해부터는 춤과 결합한 관광형 축제로 거듭나기 위해 명칭 변경 설문조사를 거쳐 안양시민축제추진위원회의 의결을 통해 ‘안양춤축제’로 이름을 바꿔 개최하게 됐다.

최대호 안양시장은 “새로운 이름으로 새출발하는 안양춤축제를 전국을 춤으로 들썩이게 만드는 대한민국 대표 문화축제로 만들겠다”고 말했다.

안양시민축제는 3년 연속 ‘대한민국축제콘텐츠대상’을 수상하고 2년 연속 ‘경기관광축제’에 선정된 바 있다. 올해에는 ‘소비자가 뽑은 올해의 브랜드대상’을 수상하는 등 시민들의 높은 호응과 함께 우수 축제로 인정받고 있다.
