사단법인 한국정보과학진흥협회(이사장 박승진)와 금융산업공익재단(이사장 주완)이 지난 2월 6일 금융산업공익재단에서 ‘디지털 소외계층 지원사업’을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.

협약은 디지털 소외계층 지원을 위해 총 3억 원의 예산으로 50대 이상의 고령층 8,000명을 대상으로 수준별 맞춤형 교육을 통해 디지털 접근성을 높이고, 디지털 문해교육사 100명을 선발해 디지털 전문인력을 양성하는 것을 주요 내용으로 한다.

이번 디지털 소외계층 지원사업은 우리 사회가 급격하게 디지털화됨에 따라 디지털 취약 계층에게 디지털 기반 생활 격차 해소를 위한 디지털 문해교육이수 기회를 제공하여 사회 모든 구성원들이 디지털의 혜택을 향유할 수 있는 환경 조성 및 디지털 문해교육사 양성교육을 통한 역량 강화에 그 목적이 있다.

한국정보과학진흥협회 박승진 이사장은 협약식에서 “디지털 전환시대에 고령층의 디지털 격차는 다른 세대보다 크다. 협회가 그동안 정보 소외 계층에 대해 정보화 교육을 실시해 오며 쌓은 역량과 재단의 사회 공헌 활동이 이번 협약을 통해 새로운 시너지를 낼 수 있어 기대가 남다르다”며, “특히 전국 디지털 취약 고령층을 대상으로 진행하는 수준별, 맞춤형 디지털 교육과 디지털 문해교육사 양성교육을 통해 전문 역량을 강화하고, 디지털 사회 안전망을 구축하는 데 크게 기여할것이다.”라고 밝혔다.

금융산업공익재단은 우리나라 최초의 산업단위 노사공동 공익재단으로 2018년 10월 설립돼 금융노조 10만 조합원과 33개 금융기관이 공동 조성한 기금으로 일자리 창출 및 청년실업 해소, 취약계층 지원 등 사회공헌사업을 수행해 지속가능한 사회를 만드는데 기여하고 있다.

To Support the Digitally Underprivileged, 8,000 Senior Citizens Will Be Educated… 100 Digital Literacy Educators Will Be Trained

On February 6, the Korea Information Science Promotion Association (Chairman Park Seung-jin) and the Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation (Chairman Joo Wan) signed a business agreement for the ‘Digital Underprivileged Support Project’ at the Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation.

The agreement mainly includes increasing digital accessibility through customized education by level for 8,000 senior citizens aged 50 or older with a total budget of 300 million won to support the digitally underprivileged, and selecting 100 digital literacy educators to train digital experts.

This support project for the digitally disadvantaged aims to provide opportunities for digital literacy education for the digitally disadvantaged to resolve the digital-based life gap as our society rapidly becomes digitalized, thereby creating an environment where all members of society can enjoy the benefits of digital technology and strengthening their capabilities through training for digital literacy educators.

At the signing ceremony, Park Seung-jin, Chairman of the Korea Information Science Promotion Association, said, “In the era of digital transformation, the digital gap among the elderly is greater than that of other generations. I have high expectations that the capabilities that the Association has accumulated through providing information education to the information disadvantaged and the foundation’s social contribution activities will create new synergy through this agreement,” adding, “In particular, we will strengthen our professional capabilities through customized digital education and training for digital literacy educators targeting the digitally disadvantaged elderly nationwide and greatly contribute to establishing a digital social safety net.”

The Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation is Korea's first industrial-level labor-management joint public welfare foundation established in October 2018. It carries out social contribution projects such as job creation, alleviation of youth unemployment, and support for the vulnerable with funds jointly raised by 100,000 members of the Financial Workers' Union and 33 financial institutions, contributing to the creation of a sustainable society.
