군포시가 지난 2월 19일 정부 발표에서 철도지하화 우선 사업 대상에서 제외된 경부선(1호선)과 현재 검토 중인 안산선(4호선)을 포함해 올해 말로 예정된 철도지하화 통합개발 종합계획에 반영을 추진한다.
군포시는 경부선과 안산선 지하화를 위해 국토교통부, 경기도, 안양시와 협의를 거쳐 구체적인 추진방안을 마련할 계획이다.
정부는 19일 정부서울청사에서 열린 민생경제점검회의에서 “총 4조3,000억원 규모의 철도 지하화 사업을 부산과 대전, 경기 안산에서 먼저 추진한다. 대상 구간은 부산진역∼부산역, 대전조차장역, 안산선 초지역∼중앙역 구간”이라고 발표했다.
군포시는 경부선과 수도권 경인선, 경원선 등 다른 지하화 신청구간에 대해서는 관련 지자체들과 협의를 거쳐 추진방안을 마련하기로 했다.
군포시는 지난해 10월 국토교통부에 경부선 금정역~당정역 4.9㎞ 구간을 지하화하는 선도사업 제안서를 제출했다.
정부가 이번 발표한 선도사업이 시범사업 성격이며 국토교통부 종합계획에 반영되면 군포시 경부선 및 안산선의 지하화 사업시행 시기가 선도사업과 크게 차이나지 않을 것으로 예상된다.
군포시는 현재 진행 중인 용역을 통해 기존 제출한 경부선 구간의 사업성을 높이는 방안과 안산선을 추가하여 5월 사업제안서를 제출하여 12월에 종합계획에 반영될 수 있도록 총력을 다할 예정이다.
하은호 군포시장은 “시민의 열망을 외면한 정부의 결정에 아쉬움을 금할 수 없지만 낙담할 일이 아니다. 지상구간의 흉물이 사라지고 조각조각 갈라진 군포가 온전히 한덩어리로 회복되는 날까지 시가 할수 있는 일에 최대한 노력을 기울이겠다”고 말했다.
