과천시 대표축제인 ‘2024 과천공연예술축제’가 지난 2월 25일 오후 용산전쟁기념관 내 피스앤파크컨벤션에서 열린 ‘제13회 대한민국 축제콘텐츠 대상’ 시상식에서 ‘축제 예술/공연 부문 대상’을 수상했다.

‘2024 과천공연예술축제’는 역대 최대인 17만 명 이상의 관람객을 기록하고, 축제 행사장을 잔디마당(유휴지 6번지)과 운동장(유휴지 5번지)으로 확대하고, 싸이의 폐막 공연에 사전 예약제를 도입해 축제 진행을 원활하게 이끌어 내는 등 축제의 안전을 위한 과천시의 노력이 높은 평가를 받았다.

(사)한국축제콘텐츠협회에서 주관하는 ‘대한민국 콘텐츠 대상’은 지역 축제를 성공적으로 이끈 지자체에 수여되는 상으로, 평가 항목에는 △방문객 인지도·만족도 △지역민 지지도 △콘텐츠 차별성 △안전관리체계 △지역사회 기여도 등이 포함된다.

과천시는 대형 공연 외에도 시민들이 함께 참여할 수 있는 50여 개의 다양한 공연과 프로그램을 준비했으며, 지역 전통예술 공연부터 클래식, 마임, 서커스, 대중음악에 이르기까지 다채로운 장르를 선보이며 관람객들의 만족도를 높였다.

과천시는 다회용기 사용, 경로 우대석·노약자 배려석 운영 등 관람객의 편의와 안전을 고려해 축제의 완성도를 높였다.

신계용 과천시장은 “과천공연예술축제가 대한민국을 대표하는 지역축제로 자리매김하게 돼 매우 기쁘다”며 “앞으로도 시민들과 함께 만드는 문화예술축제로 거듭나기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

올해 과천공연예술축제는 9월 19일부터 21일까지 3일간 과천시민회관 옆 잔디광장과 과천시민회관 일대에서 열릴 예정이다.

과천시는 과천공연예술축제 운영을 위한 예산을 지난해와 비슷한 규모로 편성했으나, 절반 넘는 금액이 삭감돼 추경 예산을 통해 필요한 예산을 추가 편성할 계획이다.

The ‘2024 Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival’, Gwacheon’s representative festival, won the ‘Grand Prize in the Festival Arts/Performance Category’ at the ‘13th Korea Festival Contents Awards’ held at the Peace & Park Convention in the Yongsan War Memorial on the afternoon of February 25.

The ‘2024 Gwacheon Performing Arts Festival’ recorded the largest number of visitors ever, over 170,000, expanded the festival venue to the lawn (Unused Site 6) and the playground (Unused Site 5), and introduced a reservation system for Psy’s closing performance to smoothly proceed with the festival, receiving high praise for Gwacheon’s efforts to ensure festival safety.
