과천시가 농림축산식품부 주관 ‘푸드테크 연구지원센터 공모’에 선정됐다. 과천시는 농림축산식품부 주관 ‘푸드테크 연구지원센터 공모’에 선정돼 ‘개인 맞춤형 식품’ 기술 개발과 연구 인프라 구축을 위해 26억2,500만 원을 지원받게 됐으며, 이를 통해 푸드테크산업의 선도적 역할을 할 수 있는 기반을 마련했다고 지난 3월 4일 밝혔다.

과천시는 공모에 선정됨으로써 향후 3년간 국비를 포함한 총 52억5,000만 원을 연구지원센터의 시설 및 장비 구축, 기술 실증 등을 위해 투입할 예정이다.

과천시는 올해 1월, 춘천시 및 월드푸드테크협의회와 ‘푸드테크산업 혁신 생태계 조성을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’을 체결하고, 푸드테크 연구지원센터 사업을 공동 추진했다.

‘푸드테크’는 글로벌 식품산업의 빠른 변화 속에서 지속 가능한 성장과 기술 혁신을 이끄는 핵심 분야로 주목받고 있다. 농림축산식품부는 푸드테크 산업의 10대 핵심 기술을 선정하고, 그중 ‘세포배양식품’, ‘간편식 제조’, ‘개인 맞춤형 식품’, ‘친환경 포장’ 등 7개 분야 분야에서 연구지원센터 공모를 진행했다. 그 결과 ‘개인 맞춤형 식품’ 분야에 과천시·춘천시, ‘세포배양식품’ 분야에 경북 의성군 등 2개 분야가 최종 선정됐다.

과천시는 푸드테크 연구지원센터를 구심점으로 하여 지역 내 산학연 협력 네트워크를 활성화하고, 푸드테크산업의 혁신 기술 개발에 주도적 역할을 할 계획이다. 또한, 2029년 지식정보타운에 건립될 복합지원센터에 ‘월드푸드테크협의회’를 유치하여 푸드테크 산업의 글로벌 혁신 거점을 구축할 계획이다.
