과천시가 지난 3월 5일 유재헌 감독을 ‘2025 과천공연예술축제’ 총감독으로 선임하고 위촉식을 개최했다.

유재헌 감독은 축제의 방향성과 주제 설정, 공연 프로그램 기획 등 축제 전반을 총괄하며 특유의 감각적 연출과 기획력을 바탕으로 새로운 변화를 시도할 계획이다.

유재헌 감독은 국내외 대형 문화행사와 공연, 미디어아트, 전시 등 다양한 분야에서 활동해 온 공연예술 전문가로 BTS, 싸이, 블랙핑크 등 K-POP 스타들의 로컬·월드투어에 참여해 글로벌 무대에서 인정받았으며, 2018 평창동계올림픽 개회식 ‘소망의 불꽃’과 평창문화올림픽 주제공연 ‘천년향’의 아트 디렉팅을 맡아 감각적인 무대를 선보인 거장이다.

유재헌 감독은 5·18 민주광장 ‘빛의 분수대’ 프로젝트 총감독을 역임하고, 국립국악원, 국립현대무용단, 국립극장 등 국내 최정상 예술단체들과 협업해 다채로운 무대를 연출하면서 공연기획, 미디어아트 전시, 공간 연출 등 폭넓은 장르에서 활발히 활동하고 있다.

과천공연예술축제는 1997년 ‘세계마당극큰잔치’로 시작해 올해로 28회를 맞이하는 과천의 대표 축제.
