군포시의회 의원연구단체 ‘군포시 반딧불이 서식지 복원을 위한 연구모임’(대표의원 신금자, 이하 반딧불이 연구모임)이 시민과 함께하는 ‘군포 수리산반딧불이 축제’ 추진에 나선다.

군포시의회(의장 김귀근)에 따르면 반딧불이 연구모임은 지난 4월부터 시민 주도형 정책연구를 통해 반딧불이 서식지 복원 방안을 모색해 왔다. 반딧불이 연구모임은 지난 8월 20일 열린 중간보고회에서 오는 9월초 초막골생태공원에서 축제를 기획하겠다고 밝혔다.

현재 군포에는 수리산 도립공원 기슭 등 5곳의 반딧불이 서식지가 확인되고 있다. 반딧불이 연구모임은 이 가운데 시민 접근성과 여가·환경 가치가 높은 초막골을 대표 서식지로 보전하고, 축제를 통해 도시 브랜드 가치를 높이겠다고 계획하고 있다.

신금자 대표의원은 “반딧불이는 1급수 계곡과 습지 등 깨끗한 환경에서만 서식하기 때문에 서식지 보호와 개선은 곧 군포 자연을 살리는 길”이라며, “시민과 함께 서식지 복원 활동을 이어가며 도시의 가치를 높이는 방안을 실천하겠다”고 강조했다.
