안양시의회 조지영 의원(더불어민주당, 안양아)이 지난 9월 22일 안양시 도로과와 간담회를 갖고 보행자와 자전거 이용자 간 충돌 우려 해소 방안을 논의했다.

최근 러닝크루 등 생활체육 활동이 늘면서 자전거도로 혼합 구간에서 안전사고와 갈등이 빈번하게 발생하고 있다.

조지영 의원은 “안양시 자전거도로의 상당 부분이 보행자와 자전거가 같은 공간을 쓰는 혼합형 구조로 돼 있어, 주말이나 야간에는 충돌 위험이 더욱 크다”고 지적했다.

조지영 의원은 해결책으로 △컬러 포장 등 시각적 구분을 통한 구조 개선, △장기적으로 분리형 자전거도로 확대, △도로다이어트를 통한 사람 중심 공간 재편 등을 제시했다. 아울러 안내 캠페인, 체험형 프로그램 등 시민 인식 개선과 배려 문화 확산도 병행돼야 한다고 강조했다.

안양시 도로과 관계자는 자전거도로 표지 정비와 안내판 설치, 홍보 캠페인 등을 추진하겠다고 밝혔다.

조지영 의원은 “보행자와 자전거 모두가 안전하게 공존하는 도로가 진정한 공공의 길”이라며, “시민 눈높이에 맞는 공간 설계와 인식 개선을 통해 안양을 사람 중심 도시로 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.
