의왕시의회 의원연구단체 ‘의왕시에서 광명역과 분당·판교로 가는 광역버스 노선 신설 추진 방안을 연구하는 의원 모임’ 소속 한채훈 대표의원과 서창수, 박현호 의원이 지난 11월 11일 성남시 일원을 찾아 신규 광역버스 노선 신설을 위한 현장 조사를 실시했다.

이번 조사는 의왕시와 분당·판교 지역 간의 교통 연계를 강화하고, 신설 노선의 효율적 운영 방안을 모색하기 위한 것으로, 의원들은 성남시의 교통 인프라 구축 사례를 집중적으로 점검했다.

세 의원은 GTX-A 성남역과 연계된 환승 체계 구축 사례를 살펴보고, 향후 GTX-C 의왕역 개통과 맞물린 환승 효율성 제고 방안을 논의했다. 성남시가 버스 정류장 신설과 시내·마을버스 노선 연장을 통해 철도와 버스의 환승 체계를 개선한 점을 주요하게 살펴봤다. 

서창수 의원은 “의왕역을 중심으로 한 광역 환승 시스템 구축에 좋은 참고 사례가 될 것”이라고 말했다.

또한 의원들은 성남시청 앞 광역버스 정류장의 교통섬형 구조와 버스전용차로 정비 사례를 살펴보며, 승하차 안전과 시민 편의성 향상 방안을 논의했다.

박현호 의원은 “이런 선진형 인프라가 의왕시 광역버스 정류장 개선에도 큰 시사점을 줄 것”이라고 평가했다.

의원들은 “현재 프리미엄버스만으로는 시민 수요를 충족하기 어렵다”며 “분당·판교 및 광명역행 광역버스 신설이 시급하다”고 강조했다. 이어 연구 결과를 바탕으로 관련 정책과 예산 반영을 시 집행부에 적극 건의할 방침이다.

한채훈 대표의원은 “시민의 교통 불편을 해소하고 삶의 질을 높이는 것은 시의회의 핵심 과제”라며, “의회 차원에서도 실질적인 대중교통 개선에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

On November 11th, Uiwang City Council Members' Research Group, "Council Members' Group Researching the Proposal for New Intercity Bus Routes from Uiwang to Gwangmyeong Station, Bundang, and Pangyo," visited Seongnam City to conduct a field survey for the establishment of new intercity bus routes.

The survey aimed to strengthen transportation connectivity between Uiwang City and the Bundang/Pangyo areas and explore efficient operation of the new routes. The council members intensively reviewed Seongnam City's transportation infrastructure development.

In particular, they examined the case of the transfer system linked to GTX-A Seongnam Station and discussed ways to improve transfer efficiency in conjunction with the upcoming opening of GTX-C Uiwang Station. Seongnam City's efforts to improve the rail-bus transfer system by building new bus stops and extending city and village bus routes became a key benchmark.

Councilmember Seo Chang-soo emphasized the significance of this initiative, saying, "This will serve as a valuable reference for establishing a metropolitan transfer system centered around Uiwang Station."

Councilmembers also examined the traffic island structure and bus-only lane construction at the metropolitan bus stop in front of Seongnam City Hall and discussed ways to improve boarding and alighting safety and citizen convenience.

Councilmember Park Hyeon-ho commented, "This advanced infrastructure will also provide significant implications for improving Uiwang City's metropolitan bus stops."

Councilmembers emphasized, "Currently, premium buses alone are not sufficient to meet citizen demand," and "The urgent need for new metropolitan buses to Bundang, Pangyo, and Gwangmyeong Stations is crucial." Based on the research findings, they plan to actively propose relevant policies and budgets to the city executive. Representative Han Chae-hoon said, “Resolving citizens’ transportation inconveniences and improving their quality of life are the core tasks of the city council,” and added, “At the council level, we will do our best to make practical improvements to public transportation.”
