안양시가 지난 11월 13일 오후 안양시청 강당에서 ‘안양권 철도망 구축계획 설명회’를 열고, 안양시 철도사업의 국가계획 반영을 시민 및 전문가들과 함께 촉구했다.

이날 행사는 문영숙 안양시 철도기획팀장의 ‘안양권 철도사업 추진 경과 설명’, 김의중 안양시 민간협치위원회 민간위원장과 나현정 안양시 주민자치협의회 수석부회장의 건의문 낭독 및 구호제창, 이부원 태조엔지니어링 부사장의 ‘안양권 철도망 구축계획’ 설명, 전문가 자문, 질의응답 등의 순서로 진행됐다.

설명회에는 최대호 안양시장과 민병덕 국회의원, 경기도의원·안양시의원, 국책연구기관 자문가, 안양시민 등 600여명이 참석했다.

문영숙 안양시 철도기획팀장은 “안양시는 관내 주요 개발사업에 시너지를 더하고 만안구와 동안구의 동반성장을 촉진하는 안양권 철도망 구축계획안으로 △위례과천선·서울서부선 안양권 연장 △경부선 안양구간 지하화 △KTX-이음 안양역 추가 정차 등을 추진하고 있다”고 설명했다.

건의문을 낭독한 김의중 안양시 민간협치위원회 민간위원장은 “안양권 철도사업이 동서남북으로 구축된다면 고속철도 이용 편의가 향상되고 서울 주요 거점과의 통행시간은 획기적으로 개선됨에도 불구하고 정부에서는 수도권·지방광역권 GTX를 우선 검토하고 있어 아쉽다”고 말했다.

나현정 안양시 주민자치협의회 수석부회장은 “안양권 철도망 구축계획이 이번 국토교통부 상위계획에 반영되지 않으면 5년을 더 기다려야하고 반영된다는 보장이 없기에 57만 안양시민의 간곡한 염원과 뜻을 모아 국가계획 반영을 강력하게 촉구한다”고 말했다.

철도·교통·도시 분야 총 7명의 전문가 자문과 시민과의 질의응답도 이뤄졌다.

한 철도 전문가는 “안양권 철도사업은 인덕원 인텐스퀘어 및 박달스마트시티 조성, 1기 신도시 재정비 등의 대규모 개발사업으로 발생되는 교통수요에 대응하기 위해 반드시 필요한 사업으로 당위성이 확보됐다”며, “위례과천선 연장은 고속철도 이용 편의가 개선돼 수도권을 포함한 전국의 교통혼잡 해소에 기여하고, 서울서부선 연장은 관악산의 지리적인 장벽으로 1시간 이상 우회하고 있는 통행시간을 대폭 줄이는 사업으로 국가계획에 반영되는 것은 당연하다”고 기대감을 밝혔다.

최대호 안양시장은 이날 인사말에서 “안양시민의 큰 관심과 열정을 다시 한 번 실감했다”며, “시와 시민들의 추진 의지를 국토교통부 등 관계기관에 충분히 전달하고 안양권 철도망 구축계획 추진에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
