과천시가 지난 11월 14일 근린공원4 부지 내에서 ‘과천지식정보타운 문화체육시설 건립 공사’ 기공식을 갖고 본격적으로 공사에 착수했다.

과천시는 2020년 한국토지주택공사(LH)와 협약을 체결해 토지사용 및 사업비 일부를 지원받아 총사업비 235억 원을 투입해 지하 1층, 지상 3층, 연면적 3,438㎡ 규모의 복합 문화체육시설을 조성한다. 준공 목표는 2027년 7월이다.

이날 행사에는 시민과 내외빈 150여 명이 참석해 새로운 지역 문화·체육 거점의 탄생을 함께 축하했다.

과천시는 시민 의견을 반영해 시설을 구성해 실용성과 시민 만족도를 높였다. 지상 1층에는 25m 5레인 규모의 수영장과 영유아 수영장, 지상 2~3층에는 다목적체육관, 헬스장, 단체운동실, 북카페 등이 들어선다. 또한 주민들이 모임이나 소규모 행사, 휴식 공간으로 다양하게 활용할 수 있는 ‘활력마당’을 비롯해 매점과 의무실 등 편의시설도 함께 조성해 이용 편의를 강화했다.
