경기도의회 정윤경 부의장(더불어민주당·군포1)이 지난 12월 22일 경기도이주여성상담센터(센터장 이영아)로부터 이주여성 보호와 권익 증진에 기여한 공로로 감사장을 받았다.

경기도이주여성상담센터는 이주여성이 겪는 폭력 피해와 인권 침해 문제에 대응하기 위해 설치된 전문 상담기관이다. 센터 측은 정윤경 부의장이 제도 개선과 현장 지원을 통해 상담센터 설립 기반을 마련한 점을 높이 평가했다.

이영아 경기도이주여성상담센터장은 “정윤경 부의장은 이주여성이 겪는 사회적 어려움을 외면하지 않고 제도 개선과 현장 지원에 앞장서 왔다”며 “부의장의 지속적인 문제 제기와 의정 활동이 상담센터 설치로 이어질 수 있었다”고 감사의 뜻을 밝혔다.

정윤경 부의장은 “그동안 경기도 이주여성들이 폭력 피해를 당해도 도내에 전문 상담기관이 없어 서울이나 인천까지 이동해야 했던 현실을 반드시 바꿔야 한다고 생각해 왔다”며 “현장의 문제를 제도적으로 풀어내려 했던 노력이 이렇게 의미 있는 감사로 이어져 뜻깊다”고 말했다. 이어 “이주여성상담센터를 통해 피해를 입은 이주여성들이 다시 일상으로 돌아가 우리 사회의 당당한 구성원으로 살아가길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

또한 정 부의장은 “이주여성들이 폭력과 차별로부터 안전하게 보호받고, 동등한 인권과 존엄을 보장받을 수 있도록 앞으로도 제도적·정책적 지원을 이어가겠다”고 강조했다.
