광교테크노밸리(광교TV) 내 바이오 부지에 바이오산업(職)·주거(住)·생활(樂) 기능이 복합된 바이오산업 거점을 조성하는 개발사업이 본격 추진된다.

경기도는 이같은 내용을 담은 ‘경기주택도시공사(GH) 광교테크노밸리 바이오 부지 개발사업 신규투자사업 추진동의안’이 지난 26일 경기도의회를 통과했다고 29일 밝혔다.

이번 동의안은 지난 6월 경기도가 광교테크노밸리 바이오 부지를 GH에 현물 출자하는 동의안을 통과시킨 데 따른 후속 조치다. 추진동의안 처리는 ‘글로벌 바이오 허브’ 조성 구상이 구체적인 사업화 단계로 진입했다는 점에서 의미가 크다고 도는 설명했다.

광교테크노밸리 바이오 부지는 수원시 영통구 이의동 919 일원 2만5000㎡ 규모 부지로, 장기간 유휴 상태였던 도유재산인 옛 바이오 장기 연구센터 예정지다.

준주거지역인 이곳에는 지하 4층·지상 16층, 연 면적 약 14만 5000㎡ 규모의 업무·주거·근린생활시설 복합단지가 들어설 예정이다. 광교TV 및 인근 바이오·헬스기업·연구기관 종사자와 청년 창업가에게 안정적인 주거 공간을 제공해 인재 유치와 정주 여건 개선에 기여할 전망이다.

광교 일대는 200여 개 바이오 관련 기업과 경기도경제과학진흥원, 경기바이오센터, 차세대융합기술연구원, 한국나노기술원, 아주대학교 의료원 등이 밀집한 경기도 바이오산업 핵심 거점이다.
