군포시중앙도서관은 시민들이 바쁜 일상 속에서도 편리하게 독서를 즐길 수 있도록 금정역사 2층 광장에 ‘스마트도서관’을 구축하고 23일부터 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다. 이번 금정역 스마트도서관은 시민들이 직접 제안한 주민참여예산을 통해 마련되어 더욱 의미가 깊다.

365일 24시간 비대면으로 운영되는 무인 시스템으로, 도서관 운영 시간에 방문하기 어려웠던 직장인과 학생 등 시민들이 퇴근길이나 등굣길에 시간에 구애받지 않고 자유롭게 책을 빌리고 반납할 수 있게 됐다.

기기에는 시민들의 선호도가 높은 신간과 베스트셀러 등 500여 권의 도서가 알차게 비치됐다. 유동 인구가 많은 역사의 특성을 살려 접근성을 극대화한 것이 특징이며, 군포시 도서관 대출 회원이라면 누구나 편리하게 이용할 수 있다. 구체적인 이용 방법은 군포시 도서관 누리집이나 기기에 부착된 안내문을 통해 확인 가능하다.

이번 개관으로 군포시 내 스마트도서관은 2023년 12월 설치되어 월평균 400여 명이 이용 중인 당정역에 이어 총 2곳으로 늘어났다.

하은호 군포시장은 “금정역 스마트도서관을 통해 시민들이 일상 속에서 보다 쉽게 책을 접할 수 있는 기반이 마련되었다”며 “앞으로도 시민 누구나 편리하게 독서의 즐거움을 누릴 수 있도록 생활밀착형 독서 인프라를 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

Gunpo Central Library has established a ‘Smart Library’ in the plaza on the 2nd floor of Geumjeong Station to allow citizens to conveniently enjoy reading amidst their busy daily lives, and began full-scale operations on the 23rd. This Geumjeong Station Smart Library holds even deeper significance as it was established through the participatory budgeting process, which was directly proposed by citizens.

As an unmanned system operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without face-to-face interaction, citizens—including office workers and students—who previously found it difficult to visit during regular library hours, can now freely borrow and return books on their way home from work or to school, without being constrained by time.

The machine is well-stocked with over 500 books, including new releases and bestsellers highly favored by citizens.
