경기도교육청(교육감 임태희)이 학생들의 인문학적 소양을 기르고 학교 내 독서문화를 뿌리내리기 위한 ‘경기북돋움 독서인문교육 실천 워크숍’을 개최하며 본격적인 현장 확산에 나섰다.

23일 아일랜드캐슬에서 ‘세계 책의 날’을 기념해 열린 이번 워크숍에는 ‘북돋움 실천학교’와 ‘책쓰기 프로젝트 지역 중심교’ 등 도내 교원 215명이 참석했다. 이번 행사는 ‘현장의 실천으로 픔우는 독서의 싹, 경기 교육을 북돋우다’라는 주제 아래, 학교 관리자의 리더십을 바탕으로 독서교육의 실행력을 높이는 방안을 모색하는 자리로 마련됐다.

워크숍 현장에서는 ‘책 읽는 학교 문화 조성 사업’ 운영교를 대상으로 한 현판 수여식이 진행되어 실천의 시작을 알렸으며, 참석자들은 ‘한 문장 북돋움 선언’을 통해 일상 속 독서교육 정착을 위한 공동의 의지를 다졌다. 또한 행사장 한편에는 학생들의 출판 도서와 책쓰기 프로젝트 결과물 등이 전시되어 학교 현장의 다양한 우수 사례를 공유하고 일반화 가능성을 확인하는 기회를 가졌다.

도교육청은 이번 워크숍에 앞서 지난 18일에도 교원들을 대상으로 ‘교육과정 기반 책쓰기 과정’ 직무연수를 실시해 읽기와 쓰기가 통합된 수업 설계 역량을 강화한 바 있다. 이처럼 교원의 수업 역량과 관리자의 리더십을 동시에 강화함으로써 도내 모든 학교에 책 읽는 문화를 확산시킨다는 방침이다.

차미순 도교육청 지역교육국장은 “이번 워크숍은 학생의 삶과 배움을 연결하는 경기북돋움 교육의 중요한 출발점”이라며 “학교 현장의 실천이 일회성에 그치지 않고 지속 가능한 독서인문교육 문화로 정착될 수 있도록 행정적·재정적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) has embarked on a full-scale field expansion by holding the ‘Gyeonggi Book-Boosting Reading and Humanities Education Practical Workshop’ to cultivate students’ humanities literacy and establish a reading culture within schools.

215 teachers from across the province, including members of ‘Book-Boosting Practice Schools’ and ‘Regional Center Schools for the Book Writing Project,’ attended the workshop held at Ireland Castle on the 23rd to commemorate ‘World Book Day.’ Under the theme, ‘Reading Seeds Sprouting Through Field Practice, Boosting Gyeonggi Education,’ the event was organized to explore ways to enhance the implementation of reading education based on the leadership of school administrators. At the workshop, a plaque presentation ceremony was held for schools participating in the ‘Project to Create a School Reading Culture,’ marking the beginning of implementation. Attendees solidified their collective commitment to establishing reading education in daily life through the ‘One-Sentence Book Encouragement Declaration.’ Additionally, student-published books and results from book-writing projects were displayed on one side of the venue, providing an opportunity to share various best practices from the school field and assess their potential for generalization.

Prior to this workshop, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education conducted a professional development course for teachers on the ‘Curriculum-Based Book Writing Course’ on the 18th to strengthen their capacity to design lessons that integrate reading and writing. The office plans to spread a reading culture to all schools in the province by simultaneously enhancing teachers' instructional capabilities and administrators' leadership in this manner.

Cha Mi-soon, Director General of the Regional Education Bureau at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, stated, “This workshop marks an important starting point for Gyeonggi Book Encouragement Education, which connects students’ lives with their learning.” She added, “We will spare no administrative or financial support to ensure that practices in schools do not remain a one-off event but become established as a sustainable culture of reading and humanities education.”
