경기도의회 미래과학협력위원회 소속 김철현 의원(국민의힘, 안양2)이 안양시 자율주행 시범운행지구 추진계획을 점검하고 실효성 중심의 운영을 주문했다.

김 의원은 지난 4월 27일 안양상담소에서 첨단모빌리티산업과로부터 자율주행 서비스 운영 계획을 보고받고 정책 방향을 점검했다.

해당 사업은 국토교통부 공모로 선정된 시범사업으로, 총 4개 노선에서 무료 자율주행 서비스를 운영하며 대중교통 소외구간 해소와 교통 혼잡 완화, 기술 실증을 병행하는 것이 골자다. 이 가운데 관악역~안양예술공원 노선은 올해 7월 이후 운영될 예정이다.

김 의원은 “자율주행 서비스가 단순 체험에 머물지 않고 실제 교통수단으로 기능할 수 있는 구조인지 점검이 필요하다”며 “야간 노선과 민원 다발 구간 중심 운영인 만큼 홍보 강화와 이용률 제고를 통해 수요 분석과 실효성 검증이 병행돼야 한다”고 밝혔다.

이어 “누적 실증거리와 탑승객 수 등 성과가 제시되고 있지만 정량적 실적에 그치고 있다”며 “사업 종료 이후에도 지속 가능한 재원 구조와 운영 모델을 사전에 마련해야 한다”고 지적했다.

또한 “신호 데이터 개방과 디지털트윈 기반 플랫폼 구축은 자율주행 안전성과 직결된다”며 “사고 예방과 긴급 대응체계 등 도민이 체감할 수 있는 안전 확보가 함께 이뤄져야 한다”고 강조했다.

김철현 의원은 “관악역~안양예술공원 노선은 관광 수요 증가에 대응해 추진되는 만큼 교통 혼잡 완화와 지역 활성화 효과가 기대된다”며 “자율주행 사업은 도민 체감도가 성패를 좌우하는 만큼 철저한 성과 검증과 실효성 중심 추진이 필요하다”고 말했다.
