한반도의 평화통일 기반을 다지고 지역사회 통일 여론을 수렴하는 민주평화통일자문회의 안양시협의회가 자문위원들의 확고한 역사관 정립과 안보 의식 고취를 위한 현장 행보를 펼쳤다.

민주평화통일자문회의 안양시협의회는 지난 14일부터 15일까지 1박 2일간의 일정으로 ‘2026년 자문위원 평화통일현장 탐방’을 실시했다고 18일 밝혔다.

이번 탐방은 한반도 역사 속에 새겨진 통일의 발자취를 찾아내고, 전 세계가 함께 지켜낸 자유와 평화의 가치를 생생하게 확인하는 ‘통일·안보 중심’의 촘촘한 일정으로 진행됐다.

자문위원들은 먼저 삼국통일의 위업을 달성한 신라 천년의 고도 경주를 찾았다. 위원들은 국립경주박물관과 첨성대, 불국사 등 찬란한 문화유산을 차례로 시찰하며, 역사 속에 깃든 민족 동질성과 과거 선조들이 염원했던 통일의 기상을 깊이 있게 되짚어보는 뜻깊은 연찬(硏鑽)의 기회를 가졌다.

이어 위원들은 부산에 위치한 세계 유일의 유엔군 묘역인 ‘재한유엔기념공원’을 방문했다. 자문위원들은 6·25전쟁 당시 대한민국의 자유와 평화를 수호하기 위해 고귀한 목숨을 바친 유엔군 전몰장병들의 묘역에 엄숙히 헌화하고 참배했다. 위원들은 인류 보편의 인류애와 숭고한 희생정신을 기리는 한편, 한반도의 항구적인 평화 정착을 위한 실천적 결의를 다졌다.

박경애 안양시협의회장은 소감을 통해 “삼국통일의 숨결이 살아 숨 쉬는 경주와 전 세계가 함께 지켜낸 평화의 상징인 유엔기념공원을 마주하며 평화통일 자문위원으로서의 사명감을 다시 한번 가슴 무겁게 깨달았다”라고 소회를 전했다.

이어 “역사를 잊은 민족에게 미래가 없듯, 이번 탐방에서 다진 확고한 안보관과 올바른 역사관을 이정표 삼아 안양시 자문위원들이 지역사회 내 평화통일 공감대를 넓게 확산하고 그 가치를 삶 속에서 실현하는 데 한층 더 앞장서 달라”고 당부했다.

한편, 민주평통 안양시협의회는 이번 평화통일현장 탐방을 통해 한층 단단해진 역사 의식과 위원 간의 유기적인 결속력을 바탕으로, 향후 지역 내 통일 기반 조성과 주민들이 피부로 체감할 수 있는 밀착형 통일 활동을 더욱 적극적으로 전개해 나갈 방침이다.
