의왕시는 지난 19일 행복마을관리소의 대표적인 특색사업인 「우리동네 한뼘정원」을 추진하며, 환경 관리의 사각지대에 소규모 정원을 조성해 생기 넘치는 마을 환경 만들기에 나섰다.

오전동행복마을관리소가 주도한 이번 사업에는 이웃사랑마을봉사단과 의왕시종합자원봉사센터 소속 자원봉사자 20여 명이 자발적으로 참여해 구슬땀을 흘렸다.

「우리동네 한뼘정원」은 평소 주민들의 눈살을 찌푸리게 했던 동네의 낙후되거나 버려진 자투리 공간을 주민과 봉사자가 힘을 모아 직접 정원으로 가꾸어 나가는 사업이다. 이를 통해 고질적인 쓰레기 문제를 해결하는 ‘마을 환경 개선’과 이웃이 함께 교류하는 ‘주민 참여 확대’라는 두 가지 긍정적인 효과를 동시에 거두고 있다.
