김성제 의왕시장이 1일 시청 대회의실에서 제12대 의왕시장 취임식을 갖고 민선 9기의 힘찬 출발을 선언했다.

이날 취임식에는 서창수 의왕시의회 의장과 이소영 국회의원, 도·시의원, 유관기관장, 사회단체장, 종교계 대표, 지역 언론인, 시민 등 300여 명이 참석해 새로운 시정의 시작을 함께 축하했다. 행사는 식전 축하공연을 시작으로 취임 선서와 취임사 순으로 진행됐다.

김 시장은 취임사를 통해 민선 9기 시정 운영의 청사진을 제시하며, 2030년 전국에서 가장 살기 좋은 명품도시 의왕을 완성하겠다는 비전을 밝혔다.

이를 위한 핵심 과제로 ▲대규모 도시개발사업의 성공적 완성 ▲기업 유치와 일자리 창출을 통한 첨단 자족도시 기반 구축 ▲체계적인 광역교통망 확충 ▲수준 높은 교육과 양질의 보육환경 조성 ▲청년이 꿈꾸고 정착하는 활력 있는 도시 조성 ▲문화·체육·복지가 어우러진 행복도시 실현 ▲건강하고 안전한 도시환경 조성 등 7대 시정 비전을 제시했다.

김 시장은 "앞으로의 4년은 의왕시의 미래 경쟁력을 결정짓는 중요한 시기"라며 "시민들과 약속한 비전과 정책을 책임 있게 추진해 2030년 전국에서 가장 살기 좋은 명품도시 의왕을 반드시 완성하겠다"고 강조했다.

민선 5·6·8기에 이어 다시 시정을 맡게 된 김 시장은 그동안의 행정 경험을 바탕으로 주요 도시개발사업과 교통 인프라 구축, 기업 유치, 생활SOC 확충 등 핵심 현안을 안정적으로 추진하는 한편, 시민들이 일상에서 체감할 수 있는 변화를 만들어 나가겠다는 의지를 밝혔다.
