Anyang City to Open Barefoot Paths at Seoksu Sports Park and Flower Nursery on the 13th
Expanding Healing Spaces in the City Center… Plans to Create 18 Barefoot Paths by the End of This Year
Anyang City will begin full-scale operation of the newly created barefoot paths at Seoksu Sports Park and the Flower Nursery on the 13th to promote citizens' health and revitalize leisure activities.
As barefoot walking has recently spread nationwide as a lifestyle culture for health and healing, Anyang City is continuously expanding nature-friendly healing spaces within the city by creating barefoot paths in various residential areas.
According to Anyang City on the 10th, the barefoot path at Seoksu Sports Park (595 Anyang-ro) features a 156㎡ red clay path as well as amenities such as rest areas and foot-washing facilities, and is available for free use by any citizen 24 hours a day. At the Flower Nursery (60-58, Pyeongchon-daero 427beon-gil, Dong-an-gu), a new 160-meter-long outdoor barefoot path has been created by utilizing the vacant land next to the greenhouse. It is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The Flower Nursery has garnered attention as a year-round barefoot walking space, as the indoor barefoot path installed inside the greenhouse last winter received a great response from citizens. In response to the increase in visitors, the city has expanded the facility to include an outdoor barefoot path to provide a more pleasant environment.
Reflecting high demand from citizens, Anyang City has been expanding its barefoot path construction project since 2024. To date, barefoot paths have been installed in a total of 16 locations, including Hakun Park and Surisan Mountain, and the city plans to expand the total to 18 locations by creating two additional paths this year at Myeonghak Park and Haeoreum Park.
The city intends to foster barefoot paths not merely as simple walking facilities, but as lifestyle-oriented green infrastructure that supports citizens' health promotion and leisure activities. "I hope that the newly opened barefoot path will become a healing spot where citizens can experience nature and enjoy healing and relaxation within the city without having to travel far," said Mayor Choi Dae-ho of Anyang City. "We will continue to expand eco-friendly healing spaces that anyone can easily access close to their living areas."
