안양권 인사들이 전국지역신문협회가 주관한 '제23회 지역신문의 날' 기념식에서 의정과 행정, 기업, 사회봉사 등 다양한 분야의 수상자로 선정되며 지역사회 발전에 기여한 공로를 인정받았다.

지난 10일 서울 국회의원회관에서 열린 이번 기념식은 사단법인 전국지역신문협회가 주최한 행사로, 지방자치와 지역언론 발전에 기여한 광역·기초의원, 지방자치단체 공무원, 기업인, 사회봉사인 등을 선정해 시상했다.

전국지역신문협회는 전국 340여 개 지역신문사가 회원사로 참여하고 있는 전국 단위 언론단체로, 지난 2004년 '지역신문의 날'을 제정한 이후 매년 기념식을 개최하며 지역사회 발전과 지방자치 활성화에 기여한 인물들을 발굴·시상해 오고 있다.

이날 본행사에 앞서 조충길 서울시협의회장이 '지방자치 시대에 지역언론의 역할'을 주제로 특별강연을 진행하며 지방자치와 함께 성장해 온 지역신문의 공익적 가치와 변화하는 미디어 환경 속 지역언론의 역할을 강조했다.

이어 이여춘 중앙회 부회장의 윤리강령 낭독으로 본행사가 시작됐으며, 김용숙 중앙회장은 대회사를 통해 "지역이 살아야 대한민국이 산다는 신념으로 걸어온 회원사들의 발자취는 곧 대한민국 지방자치 발전의 역사"라며 "지방자치가 성숙할수록 지역신문의 책임과 역할은 더욱 커질 것"이라고 말했다.

이번 시상식에서 안양권에서는 장민수 경기도의원(안양)과 곽동윤 안양시의원이 각각 광역·기초의원 부문 의정대상을 수상했다. 두 수상자는 지역 현안 해결과 주민 중심의 의정활동을 통해 지방자치 발전에 기여한 점을 높이 평가받았다.

자랑스러운 공무원상은 이승훈 의왕시 홍보담당관 정책홍보팀장과 김민지 경기도의회 사무처 언론홍보과 주무관이 수상했다. 두 공무원은 적극적인 정책 홍보와 원활한 언론 소통을 통해 행정의 신뢰도를 높인 공로를 인정받았다.

CEO대상은 이윤우 ㈜안양장례식장 대표이사에게 돌아갔다. 이 대표는 20여 년간 장례업계에 몸담은 전문 경영인으로, 2023년 대표이사 취임 이후 시설 현대화와 서비스 품질 향상을 통해 수도권 최고 수준의 장례시설을 구축했다. 또한 지역 어르신과 각종 단체를 대상으로 상생 협약을 추진하는 등 장례복지 향상과 지역사회 공헌 활동을 지속해 온 점이 높은 평가를 받았다.

사회봉사대상은 조성현 해조건설㈜ 대표이사가 수상했다. 조 대표는 국제라이온스협회 354-B(경기)지구 총재를 역임하며 국내외 봉사활동을 꾸준히 펼쳐왔으며, 다양한 사회공헌 사업과 국제 네트워크를 활용한 봉사활동을 이어온 공로를 인정받았다.

이번 수상은 각 분야에서 지역사회 발전과 주민 삶의 질 향상을 위해 묵묵히 활동해 온 안양권 인사들의 노력을 전국적으로 인정받았다는 점에서 의미를 더했다. 특히 지방의회와 행정, 기업, 민간 봉사단체가 각자의 위치에서 지역 발전에 기여한 성과가 함께 조명되면서 지방자치와 지역공동체의 가치가 다시 한번 확인되는 계기가 됐다.

Prominent figures from the Anyang region were recognized for their contributions to the development of the local community, being selected as award recipients in various fields—including legislative affairs, administration, business, and social service—at the '23rd Regional Newspaper Day' ceremony hosted by the National Association of Regional Newspapers.

The ceremony, held on the 10th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Seoul, was an event organized by the National Association of Regional Newspapers. Awards were presented to metropolitan and local council members, local government officials, businesspeople, and social service volunteers who have contributed to the development of local autonomy and regional media. The National Association of Regional Newspapers is a nationwide media organization with approximately 340 regional newspapers participating as members. Since establishing "Regional Newspaper Day" in 2004, the association has held annual commemorative ceremonies to identify and award individuals who have contributed to the development of local communities and the revitalization of local autonomy.

Prior to the main event, Cho Chung-gil, Chairman of the Seoul Council, delivered a special lecture on the theme of "The Role of Regional Media in the Era of Local Autonomy." He emphasized the public value of regional newspapers, which have grown alongside local autonomy, and highlighted the role of regional media in a changing media environment.

The main event then began with the reading of the Code of Ethics by Vice Chairman Lee Yeo-chun. In her opening address, President Kim Yong-sook stated, "The footsteps of our member companies, who have walked this path with the conviction that 'the Republic of Korea thrives only when the regions thrive,' constitute the history of the development of local autonomy in Korea." She added, "As local autonomy matures, the responsibility and role of regional newspapers will only grow larger." At this awards ceremony, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Jang Min-soo (Anyang) and Anyang City Council member Kwak Dong-yoon received the Grand Prize for Legislative Achievement in the metropolitan and local council member categories, respectively, representing the Anyang region. Both recipients were highly praised for their contributions to the development of local autonomy through the resolution of local issues and resident-centered legislative activities.

The Proud Public Servant Award was presented to Lee Seung-hoon, Team Leader of the Policy Promotion Team at the Public Relations Department of Uiwang City, and Kim Min-ji, a principal officer in the Media Relations Division of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Secretariat. Both officials were recognized for enhancing the credibility of the administration through active policy promotion and smooth communication with the media.

A professional manager with over 20 years of experience in the funeral industry, CEO Lee has established a top-tier funeral facility in the metropolitan area since assuming the CEO role in 2023 by modernizing facilities and improving service quality. In addition, the company received high praise for its continued efforts to improve funeral welfare and contribute to the local community, including promoting mutual cooperation agreements with local seniors and various organizations.

The Social Service Grand Prize was awarded to Cho Seong-hyeon, CEO of Haejo Construction Co., Ltd. CEO Cho was recognized for his contributions in consistently carrying out domestic and international volunteer activities while serving as the Governor of Lions International District 354-B (Gyeonggi), as well as for continuing volunteer work utilizing various social contribution projects and international networks.

This award holds added significance as it represents nationwide recognition of the efforts of figures in the Anyang region who have quietly worked to develop the local community and improve the quality of life for residents across various fields. In particular, as the achievements of the local council, administration, corporations, and private volunteer organizations in contributing to regional development were highlighted together, it served as an opportunity to reaffirm the value of local autonomy and the local community.
