의왕시가 판교와 분당 방면으로 출퇴근하는 시민들의 교통 편의를 높이기 위한 '경기편하G버스(구 경기프리미엄버스)' 신규 노선 사업에 최종 선정됐다.

이번 노선은 내손동과 판교를 잇는 첫 직행 광역버스로, 출퇴근 시간대 교통 불편 해소에 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

의왕시는 최근 경기도가 추진한 경기편하G버스 신규 노선 공모에서 시가 제안한 노선이 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

그동안 내손동 일대는 대규모 공동주택 입주와 도시개발로 인구가 꾸준히 증가하면서 판교·분당 방면 출퇴근 수요도 크게 늘어났다. 그러나 직행 광역버스가 없어 시민들은 마을버스로 범계역까지 이동한 뒤 3330번 광역버스로 환승해야 하는 불편을 겪어왔다.

특히 출근 시간에는 3330번 버스 이용객이 몰리면서 만차로 여러 대의 버스를 보내거나 장시간 대기하는 사례가 반복돼 직행 노선 신설 요구가 꾸준히 제기돼 왔다.

시는 성남시와 안양시를 비롯한 인접 지자체, 경기도와 협의를 이어오며 신규 노선의 필요성을 지속적으로 건의했고, 지난 14일 경기도 신규 노선 사업 대상에 최종 포함됐다.

신설되는 경기편하G버스는 내손동을 출발해 판교역과 서현역을 연결하는 맞춤형 급행 광역버스로 운행된다. 출근 시간과 퇴근 시간에 각각 2회씩 하루 4회 운행할 예정이다.
