의왕시는 29일 국민체육센터에서 어르신 2천여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘제31회 의왕시 노인의 날 기념행사’를 개최했다.

대한노인회 의왕시지회가 주관한 이날 행사는 축하공연에 이어 기념식과 유공자 표창 순으로 진행됐다. 식전 행사에서는 대한민국방송 코미디언협회의 코미디 공연이 열렸으며, 본 행사에서는 경로효친을 실천하고 노인복지 발전에 기여한 효행자와 모범노인 등 25명에게 표창을 수여했다.

김성제 시장은 “어르신들의 헌신과 노고가 오늘의 발전을 만드는 밑거름이 됐다”며 “건강하고 안정적인 노후를 보낼 수 있도록 노인복지 정책을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

의왕시는 노인복지관 시설 확충과 경로당 현대화, 노인대학원 운영, 어르신 일자리 확대 등 노인복지 사업을 추진하고 있다.
