Gunpo Neulpureun Senior Welfare Center Launches Campaign to Spread "Well-Dying" Culture

Distributing self-produced introductory booklets and collaborating with the Dementia Care Center to raise awareness

Gunpo Neulpureun Senior Welfare Center (Director Gil Jae-kyung) conducted a campaign in collaboration with the Gunpo City Dementia Care Center to promote awareness of "well-dying" among local residents, which included the distribution of self-produced introductory booklets.

Following an initial campaign on August 24, the center concluded its second campaign at the Gunpo City Dementia Care Center on September 28.

This campaign was designed to introduce the concept of well-dying to the general public, extending beyond just the center's regular users. On-site, the center distributed samples of its introductory booklet, titled "My Life Was Truly Wonderful," and conveyed the importance of respecting life—specifically, accepting death as a natural part of existence and cherishing one's current life.

Information was also provided regarding the center's on-site consultation service for Advance Directives on Life-Sustaining Treatment. As a registered agency for these directives, the center offers free consultations in the third-floor lobby every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. During the campaign, the center also accepted appointment requests from residents interested in consultations.

The center hopes this campaign will encourage residents to contemplate a dignified end to life in advance and serve as a catalyst for spreading the culture of well-dying throughout the local community. Director Gil Jae-kyung stated, "Well-dying begins not with preparing for death, but with cherishing the present moment," adding, "We will continue to collaborate with local organizations to ensure more residents can naturally engage with the culture of well-dying."

For inquiries or to schedule a consultation regarding advance directives for life-sustaining medical care, please contact the Senior Care Department at the Gunpo Neulpureun Senior Welfare Center (031-394-5755).
