최대호 안양시장이 민선9기 대한민국시장군수구청장협의회 상임부회장으로 선임됐다.

안양시에 따르면 최대호 시장은 29일 서울 한국프레스센터에서 열린 민선9기 협의회 제1차 공동회장단 회의에서 상임부회장으로 선임됐다.

대한민국시장군수구청장협의회는 전국 기초지방자치단체의 공동 현안을 논의하고 지방자치 발전을 위한 정책 건의와 제도 개선을 추진하는 전국 단위 협의체다.

최 시장은 “지방정부의 자율성과 재정 권한을 대폭 강화하고 지역 현장의 목소리가 중앙정책에 반영될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

또 정부가 추진 중인 ‘미래대응기금 신설에 따른 지방교부세 산정방식 개편안’에 우려를 나타내고, 기초지방정부의 재정 자율성 확보를 위한 협의회 차원의 건의문을 김병내 대표회장과 마련하기로 했다.

Emphasis Placed on Strengthening Local Government Autonomy and Fiscal Authority

Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho has been appointed as the Standing Vice-Chair of the Association of Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads for its 9th term.

According to the City of Anyang, Mayor Choi was appointed to the position during the first meeting of the association’s joint leadership group, held on the 29th at the Korea Press Center in Seoul.

The Association of Mayors, County Governors, and District Heads is a nationwide consultative body that discusses common issues facing local governments across the country and pursues policy proposals and institutional improvements to advance local autonomy.

Mayor Choi stated, "I will do my utmost to significantly strengthen the autonomy and fiscal authority of local governments and ensure that the voices of local communities are reflected in central government policies."

He also expressed concern regarding the government's proposed plan to revise the calculation method for local shared taxes in conjunction with the establishment of a "Future Response Fund." He agreed to work with Representative Chair Kim Byeong-nae to draft a formal proposal on behalf of the association aimed at securing fiscal autonomy for local governments.
