김동연 경기도지사가 “경기도는 남북관계에 가장 적극적인 역할 할 수 있는 위치에 있다”며 남북관계 해결을 위한 경기도의 적극적인 역할을 강조했다.

김동연 지사는 지난 10월 4일 고양 킨텍스에서 열린 ‘10.4 남북정상선언 15주년 기념 학술회의’ 축사를 통해 “(남북)문제 해결을 위해서 새로운 기회를 만들어야 한다”며, “경기도는 남북관계(해결)에 있어서 가장 적극적인 역할을 할 수 있는 위치에 있다”고 강조했다.

김 지사는 이어 “이 정권에서 남북 관계가 훨씬 더 경색될 가능성이 많기 때문에 경기도에 할 일이 많다고 생각한다”면서 “경제와 사회에 역동성을 만들어보고, 양극화 해소를 위한 상생과 포용을 추진해 보고, 미래 도전 과제에 대한 극복에 앞장서서 더 많은 기회, 더 고른 기회, 더 나은 기회를 만드는 기회의 수도로 만들어보겠다”고 밝혔다.

10.4 남북정상선언 15주년을 기념해 경기도평생교육진흥원이 주최하고, 한반도평화포럼이 주관한 이번 학술회의는 ‘흔들리는 세계질서와 한반도, 그리고 남북관계’라는 주제로 열렸다.

학술회의는 △정세균 노무현재단 이사장의 기념사, △이재정 전 경기도교육감의 ‘평화를 여는 길, 평화를 다지는 길’을 주제로 한 기조연설, 이후 세션을 2부로 나눠 평화의 위협 요소와 국제정세의 위기에 대해 전문가들의 의견을 듣고 질의 응답하는 시간을 가졌다.

10.4 남북정상선언은 2007년 노무현 대통령과 김정일 국방위원장 간에 성사됐던 2차 남북정상회담에서 채택된 ‘남북관계 발전과 평화번영을 위한 선언’을 말한다.
