과천시가 3월 28일자 보도자료를 통해 지난 3월 개교한 과천율목초중학교를 포함한 관내 초·중·고 전체 12곳 학교에 푸드테크 등 신산업 분야에 대한 진로 탐색 기회를 확대 제공한다고 밝혔다.

과천시는 올해부터 역점사업으로 추진하고 있는 ‘푸드테크 혁신 특구 조성’ 노력에 발맞춰 미래 식량 연구가, 셰프, 파티시에 등 관련 분야 전문가 진로 프로그램을 지원한다.

과천시 진로지원센터는 학교 교육과정과 연계해 소프트웨어(SW), 인공지능(AI), 코딩, 로봇, 드론, 메타버스 등 신산업 분야에 대한 진로 탐색 프로그램뿐만 아니라, 현직에 종사하는 직업인의 길라잡이 프로그램 등을 제공하고 있다.

과천시 진로지원센터는 이밖에도 청소년의 진로‧진학과 관련한 20여 개의 프로그램을 운영하고 있으며, LG디스커버리랩, 서울퓨처랩, 송도VR센터, 한국잡월드 등 130여 곳의 체험처를 발굴해 학교와 연계 프로그램이 진행될 수 있도록 하고 있다.
