민주평화통일자문회의 안양시협의회(회장 원광희, 이하 안양 민주평통)가 지난 5월 9일 오후 평촌에 있는 한식집 경복궁 평촌점에서 안양시 탈북민 멘티와 자문위원 멘토 결연식을 개최했다.

안양 민주평통 자문 위원 14명이 참석한 가운데 개최된 이날 결연식 인사말에서 원광희 회장은 “그동안 북한 이탈주민들의 경제적, 문화체험 위주로 한 멘토링을 확장해 정신적, 심리적, 문화적, 경제적. 종교적 접근 등 다각화된 접근으로 편견을 걷어내고 이해와 배려를 통한 화합과 소통하는 멘토링을 하겠다”고 말했다.

민주평통 멘토링 사업은 민주평통 자문위원과 성장가능성 있는 북한이탈주민이 각각 멘토와 멘티가 되어, 함께 ‘동행’하고, 멘티의 ‘성공적인 미래희망’을 지지하고, 북한이탈주민이 ‘사회적 기여’ 역할을 할 수 있도록 지원하는 프로그램이다.

안양 민주평통은 결연식을 시작으로 ‘탈북민 멘티’와 ‘자문위원 멘토’가 서로 따뜻한 이웃사촌이 되어 함께 성장해 나갈 수 있도록 매달 정기적인 모임을 가지며 소통하기로 했다. 나아가 우리 사회를 위해 함께 봉사하며 자유·평화·번영의 통일된 한반도 구현에 기여할 수 있도록 적극적으로 멘토링 사업을 펼쳐나갈 계획이다.
