원불교 과천교당(교무 이지연)이 지난 5월 22일 과천시 중앙동에 어려운 이웃을 위한 김치 200kg(40박스)을 기부했다.

중앙동 행정복지센터는 기부 받은 김치를 관내 취약계층에 전달할 예정이다.

원불교 과천교당 이지연 교무는 “원불교 대각 개교절을 기념해 이번 기회에 김치 40박스를 기부하게 됐다”며, “앞으로도 이웃들에게 관심을 가지고 나눔을 실천하겠다”라고 말했다.

원불교는 소태산대종사가 대각을 이룬 4월 28일을 원불교 개교의 날로 삼아 ‘대각개교절’이라는 기념일로 정하고, 매년 이날을 원불교 회상의 근원이 되는 날로 헌축하는 의식을 행한다.

원불교 과천교당은 평소 관내 어르신들의 생신을 챙기는 사업에 참여하고 김치를 후원하는 등 꾸준히 지역사회에 공헌하고 있다.

Won Buddhism Gwacheon Church donates 200kg of kimchi to Jungang-dong, Gwacheon-si

On May 22, the Won Buddhism Gwacheon Church (professor Lee Ji-yeon) donated 200 kg (40 boxes) of kimchi to needy neighbors in Jungang-dong, Gwacheon-si.

The Jungang-dong Administrative Welfare Center plans to deliver donated kimchi to vulnerable groups in the district.

Lee Ji-yeon, director of the Won Buddhism Gwacheon Church, said, “We took this opportunity to donate 40 boxes of kimchi to commemorate the opening day of Won Buddhism. We will continue to show interest and practice sharing with our neighbors.”

Won Buddhism celebrates April 28, when Master Sotaesan attained great enlightenment, as the founding day of Won Buddhism, and sets aside a memorial day called ‘Daegak Foundation Day.’ Every year, a ceremony is held to dedicate this day as a day that becomes the source of remembrance of Won Buddhism.
