신계용 과천시장이 지난 12월 6일 열린 제287회 과천시의회 제2차 정례회에서 시정연설을 통해 2025년도 예산안을 설명하고, 내년도 시정 운영 방향과 주요 사업 계획을 발표했다.

과천시 2025년 예산안은 시민들의 삶의 질 향상과 지속 가능한 도시 성장을 목표로 올해보다 473억 원 증액된 5,434억 원 규모로 편성됐다.

신계용 과천시장은 “2025년도 예산은 기업 유치를 통한 자족 기능 강화, 시민을 위한 인프라 확충, 증가하는 복지 수요에 부응하는 복지서비스 확대에 초점을 맞췄다”며, “건전한 재정운영 원칙을 바탕으로 예산을 효율적으로 집행할 계획”이라고 말했다.

과천시의 내년도 시정 운영의 방향은 △첨단산업과 자족 기능을 갖춘 지속 가능한 미래형 도시로 성장 △변화하는 도시 구조에 맞는 교통 인프라 확충 △생활 체감도가 높은 기반시설 신속 확충 △모든 세대가 함께 어우러지는 사람 중심의 행복 도시 조성 △전통과 현대가 공존하는 문화예술 도시 구현 △현 세대와 미래 세대를 아우르는 지속 가능한 환경 도시 조성이다.

과천시는 특히 관악산 해누리전망대 조성, 문원청계마을 공영주차장 건설, 관문체육공원 내 반려동물 놀이터 개장, 제2실내체육관 건립, 교동길과 구리안로 보도 정비를 통한 걷고 싶은 거리 조성 등 시민 생활과 밀접한 사업 추진에 박차를 가할 계획이다.

4차 산업혁명 시대에 대비한 인재 육성을 위해 디지털 과학교육 지원을 강화해 미래 세대의 기술 발전과 더불어 발맞춘 성장을 도모하고, 기업 유치와 자족 기능 강화로 과천시의 경제적 자립성을 높여 나갈 예정이다.

이밖에도 과천시는 탄소중립 도시 실현을 위한 관련 사업을 적극적으로 추진하며 자연과 인간이 공존할 수 있는 지속 가능한 환경 도시 조성에도 총력을 기울여 시민들의 삶의 질을 높이고, 미래 세대까지 이어질 수 있는 도시를 조성할 계획이다.

Gwacheon City’s 2025 budget was compiled at 543.4 billion won, an increase of 47.3 billion won from this year, with the goal of improving the quality of life for citizens and achieving sustainable urban growth.
