주간현대신문이 지령 500호 발행 기념 자축연을 지난 12월 5일 저녁 비산 누룽지백숙에서 개최했다. 이날 자축연은 이여춘 발행인 인사말에 이어 남상덕 자문위원장 축사, 참석자 덕담, 축하케이크 커팅 등의 순서로 진행됐다.
본지 자문원원들과 후원자들이 참석한 이날 행사에서 이여춘 발행인은 “바쁘신 가운데 시간 내주셔서 참석해 주심 모든 분들께 감사드린다. 여러 자문위원님들 또 후원자님들께 도움 받아가면서 정도에서 벗어나면 안 되겠다 싶은 마음을 지금까지 지켜왔다고 자부할 수 있다”며, “오늘 오신 분들은 물론이고 참석 못하신 분들의 기대에 어긋나지 않게 신문의 사명을 제대로 지키도록 하겠다. 지역 신문으로서 역할을 제대로 하겠다”고 말했다.
남상덕 자문위원장은 “17년이라는 긴 세월 동안 지역 언론을 유지했다는 것은 상당한 끈기있는 이어준 대표의 특유의 자질이 아닌가 생각한다”며, “오늘 만사를 제치고 여기 오신 분들은 신문 때문이라기보다 인간적인 마음으로 이여춘 대표의 분명한 후원자가 아닌가 생각한다. 앞으로도 많이 도와주시고 격려도 해주시고 박수도 많이 쳐달라“고 말했다.
