경기도가 지난 12월 20일 경기도청북부청사 평화누리홀에서 도내 ‘병역명문가’ 17가문 46명을 초청해 감사와 존경의 뜻을 전하는 ‘병역명문가 초청 기념행사’를 진행했다.

병역명문가란 1대 할아버지부터 3대 손자까지 가족 모두가 현역복무를 명예롭게 마친 가문으로, 매년 병무청 심사를 통해 선정된다.

경기도는 병역면문가에게 기존 의료원과 문화시설 이용 혜택에 더해 올해는 경기도 운영 휴양시설 및 야영시설 이용료를 면제·감면하는 혜택을 새롭게 마련했다. 경기도는 병무청, 31개 시군과 협력해 병역명문가의 예우와 지원을 더욱 확대할 방침이다.

경기도는 병역명문가 예우와 지원을 위해 지난 2015년 ‘경기도 병역명문가 예우 및 지원에 관한 조례’를 제정해 도내 각종 시설 이용료 감면 등을 시행하고 있다. 또한, 2016년부터 매해 도내 병역명문가 선정을 축하하며, 자긍심을 고취하고자 기념행사를 열고 문패 전달식과 기념촬영 등을 진행하고 있다.

올해 경기도에서는 총 1,215가문이 병역명문가로 선정됐다. 이 중 대표 17가문을 초청해 존경과 감사의 의미를 담은 ‘병역명문가의 집 문패’ 수여와 함께 경기도의 감사 서한문을 전달했다.

오후석 행정2부지사는 환영사에서 “경기도는 최대 접경지이자 대한민국 경제의 중심지로 3대에 걸쳐 안보의 최전선을 지켜오신 병역명문가는 경기도의 자랑이며, 대한민국의 진정한 영웅”이라며, “경기도는 병역명문가의 명예에 걸맞은 예우와 지원을 하고, 병역을 성실히 이행한 분들이 존경받는 사회를 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Gyeonggi Province Holds 2024 Military Service Family Invitation Commemorative Event

On December 20, Gyeonggi Province held the ‘Military Service Family Invitation Commemorative Event’ at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Northern Office Peace Nuri Hall to invite 46 families from 17 ‘military service families’ in the province to express gratitude and respect.

A military service family is a family in which all family members, from the first-generation grandfather to the third-generation grandson, have honorably completed active duty, and are selected every year through a review by the Military Manpower Administration.

Gyeonggi Province has newly established benefits for military service families this year, including exemption and reduction of fees for use of Gyeonggi Province-run recreation and camping facilities, in addition to the existing benefits for use of medical centers and cultural facilities. Gyeonggi Province plans to further expand the treatment and support of military service families in cooperation with the Military Manpower Administration and 31 cities and counties. In order to provide preferential treatment and support for families with distinguished military service, Gyeonggi Province enacted the ‘Gyeonggi Province Military Service Family Preferential Treatment and Support Ordinance’ in 2015 and has been implementing various facility usage fee reductions in the province. In addition, since 2016, a commemorative event has been held every year to celebrate the selection of families with distinguished military service in the province and to instill pride, and a plaque presentation ceremony and commemorative photo shoot have been held.

This year, a total of 1,215 families were selected as families with distinguished military service.
