과천시가 지난 12월 19일 시청 대강당에서 ‘2050 탄소중립 녹색성장위원회’ 발족식과 함께 탄소중립포럼을 개최했다. 이번 행사는 탄소중립 실현을 위한 과천시의 비전과 방향을 공유하고, 구체적인 실행 과제 모색을 위한 것.

과천시 2050 탄소중립 녹색성장위원회(이하, 위원회)는 당연직 위원 5명과 민간 위촉직 위원 15명 등 총 20명으로 구성된다. 위원회는 건물에너지, 도시·수송, 폐기물·흡수원, 시민교육·실천기반 등 4개 분과로 나뉘어 탄소중립 사회로의 전환과 녹색성장 추진을 위한 주요 정책과 계획을 심의·의결하는 역할을 수행한다.

과천시는 위원회 운영을 통해 민관 협력을 토대로 지역 특성에 맞는 정책을 발굴해 실행하고, 탄소중립 정책의 방향성을 제시함으로써 구체적인 성과를 도출할 예정이다.

백운석 민간공동위원장은 “탄소중립 도시 실현을 위해 과천시 특성에 맞는 정책을 발굴하고 실행하는데 힘을 보태겠다”는 의지를 밝혔다.
