경기도가 행정안전부가 지난 12월 31일 공표한 ‘지역안전지수’에서 10년 연속 도 단위 최다분야 1등급 지역에 선정됐다.

행정안전부에서 매년 공표하는 ‘지역안전지수’는 6개(교통사고·화재·범죄·생활안전·자살·감염병)분야 통계를 활용해 자치단체별 안전수준을 계량화한 후 1∼5등급으로 나눈다. 1등급일수록 동일 단위 행정구역 내에서 상대적으로 안전하다는 뜻을 의미한다.
경기도는 이번 평가로 2015년부터 매년 공표된 ‘지역안전지수’에서 10년 연속 최다분야 1등급을 받아 높은 안전수준과 안전 기반을 확보하고 있는 것으로 확인됐다.
다만, 범죄 분야는 아동안전지킴이집과 자율방범대원 수를 확대하는 등 민간 자원을 활용해 개선할 여지가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
