안양시가 지난해 시정 활동을 마무리하며 ‘2024년 안양시 10대 뉴스’를 선정했다.

1. 수도권 철도망 중심도시 안양

지난 2010년 안양시가 전국 최초 제안했던 경부선 철도 지하화 사업 관련 특별법이 올해 1월 국회를 통과하며 사업 추진의 발판이 마련됐다. 경부선 지하화 사업 대상 구간 중 안양시 경유 구간은 석수역에서 명학역까지 총 7.5킬로미터(㎞), 4개 역이다. 이뿐만 아니라 향후 안양에는 수도권광역급행철도(GTX)-C노선, 인덕원~동탄선, 월곶~판교선, 신안산선(석수역)이 정차할 예정이다. 또 시는 서울 서부선 및 위례과천선이 안양권으로 연장될 수 있도록 제5차 대도시권 광역교통시행계획에 반영해달라고 건의한 바 있다.
