의왕시가 행정안전부가 전국 228개 지자체를 대상으로 실시한 ‘2024년 자연재해 안전도 진단’에서 4회 연속으로 최고 등급인 A등급을 받았다.
의왕시는 재해영향평가 협의 이행, 지진방재 시행계획 수립 및 내진보강대책 추진, 재난상황 대응 및 정보공유 체계 구축 등에서 높은 점수를 받아 최고 등급인 ‘A등급’ 진단을 받았다.
행정안전부는 ‘자연재해대책법’에 따라 전국 228개 시군구를 대상으로 매년 자연재해 안전도 진단을 시행, 자연재해 위험 요인과 예방 대책, 시설 정비 등 67개 평가 항목을 검증해 5개 등급(A~E등급)으로 평가한다. 그 중 A등급은 상위 15%로 34개 지자체에 부여된다.
의왕시는 이번 성과를 통해 향후 자연재해 등으로 인한 특별재난지역 선포 시 피해복구비 국고지원을 2% 추가로 지원받을 수 있는 혜택을 얻게 됐다.
김성제 의왕시장은 “이상기후로 자연재난 발생 가능성이 높아질 것으로 예상되는 만큼 철저한 재난관리는 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “2025년도에도 안전한 도시환경을 조성하여 전국에서 가장 살기 좋은 명품 도시 의왕을 만드는 데 전력을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
