군포시(시장 하은호)가 지난 2월 5일 ‘교육도시 군포를 꿈꾸며’라는 제목의 매우 이례적인 기획기사 보도자료를 배포했다. 교육과 관련한 군포시 정책에 대한 자신감의 발로일 수도 있겠고, 행사나 업적 등에 대한 보도기사 중심의 기존 관행을 깨보고 싶은 최근 바뀐 홍보실장의 야심찬 기획일 수도 있겠다.

정규교육 지원 정책

군포시는 2023년 1,698명의 초등학생에게 10만원씩 1억6,900만원을 입학축하금으로 지급했다. 2025년에는 입학축하금으로 2억4,000만원이 지원된다. 군포시는 현장학습비용과 체육복 지원도 지원한다. 하은호 시장의 공약으로 군포만의 특별한 교육지원시책이다.

군포시는 1월 7일 군포중앙고와 자율형공립고 운영지원 협약을 맺었다. 지난 해 2월 기본 협약의 업그레이드 버전이다. 실무운영위원회가 가동된다는 점이 추가됐다. 군포시는 자율형공립고 공모 초기부터 군포중앙고를 지원해왔다.

군포시는 어린이집 환경개선을 지원하고 있다. 2024년 초까지 285개의 민간과 가정어린이집 안심보육 환경개선을 지원했다. 여기에 열린어린이집을 전체 어린이집의 50%까지 확대하겠다는 시책을 추진하고 있다. 이미 95개소가 열린어린이집으로 운영되고 있다.

군포시는 다문화 가족, 한부모 가족, 재혼 가족, 조손 가족, 1인 가구, 북한이탈주민 등 다양한 형태의 가족들 모두가 존중받고, 행복한 삶의 가치를 느끼며 공존하도록 누구도 소외되지 않는 함께 만들어가고자 군포시 가족센터를 중심으로 영어도서관 운영, 부모교육, 다문화아동 이중언어교육 등을 펼치고 있다. 다함께돌봄센터, 공동육아나눔터, 장난감도서관등도 운영 중이다.

평생학습 정책

군포시는 2022년 산본도서관을 리모델링하면서 실버세대를 위한 공간 실버도서관 여유당을 개관했다. 실버세대 이용자들은 도서관에서 작가와 함께 글쓰기를 시작해서 2024년에는 문집을 발행하기에 이른다.

군포시는 2013년 교육부로부터 평생학습도시로 지정되고 2021년에 이어 2024년 재지정돼 2027년까지 평생학습도시 지위를 이어가게 되었다. 이는 군포시가 시민 대상의 강좌 제안 제도를 운영해 시민들의 학습 자치를 실현하고, 평생교육 강사의 역량을 강화하는 등 다양한 사업을 성공적으로 추진한 결과다. 2023년에는 ‘탄소중립 실천을 위한 시민주도형 학습 시스템 구축’ 사업으로 2024년에는 ‘디지털전환 시대 메이커 평생학습’ 사업으로 대한민국 평생학습도시 좋은 정책상을 수상했다.

군포시는 평생학습관으로 평생학습마을과 평생학습원 2개가 운영중이며 시민들에게 다양한 평생학습 프로그램을 제공하여, 학습을 통해 삶의 질을 향상시키고, 지역 사회의 발전에 기여하고 있다. 군포시평생학습관은 문화예술 아카데미, 그림책 학교, 기획 강좌 등 다양한 프로그램을 운영하고 있으며, 시민들이 자유롭게 참여할 수 있는 학습 환경을 조성하고 있다.

군포시는 또한 평생학습 포털을 운영해 시민들이 언제 어디서나 학습 정보를 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 하고 있다. 이 포털사이트는 원스탑 서비스로 평생교육 정보를 제공하며, 시민들이 필요한 학습 정보를 빠르고 편리하게 찾을 수 있도록 돕고 있다.

청소년 교육 지원정책

군포시에는 오형탁 선생이 사재 10억원을 출연해 만든 성오장학재단이 있다. 하은호 시장은 1998년부터 군포시장이 될 때까지 25년간 성오장학재단 이사장을 오래 맡아왔다. 지금 하 시장이 명예이사장으로 있는 (재)군포사랑장학회는 군포시가 2007년 20억원을 출연해 만든 장학재단으로 군포시는 지금까지 96억3,400만원을 장학회에 출연했다. 군포사랑장학회는 2024년에만 3억9,000만원을 청소년들의 학업을 지원하는데 썼다.

2007년 ‘한 시민 한 구좌 갖기운동’으로 출범한 군포사랑장학회는 110억원의 자산을 운영하는 희망의 등대가 되고 있으며 지역사회가 아끼는 사회환원마당이 되고 있다.

군포시청소년재단(이사장 하은호 군포시장, 대표이사 김덕희)은 시청 옆에 있는 청소년수련관을 비롯해 충남 청양에 있는 청소년수련관, 당동청소년문화의집과 광정동청소년문화의집, 청소년상담복지센터, 군포시진로교육협력센터를 운영하는 매머드급 청소년 지원기관이다.

군포시진로교육협력센터는 군포시의 대표적인 교육기관 중 하나로, 청소년들의 진로 탐색과 진로 교육을 지원하고 있다. 센터는 다양한 진로 체험 프로그램과 상담 서비스를 제공하여 청소년들이 자신의 적성과 흥미를 발견하고, 미래의 진로를 계획할 수 있도록 돕고 있다. 4곳의 청소년카페 Teen터를 운영한다. 2025년 1곳의 Teen터를 추가 개관할 예정이다.

청소년상담복지센터는 학교밖청소년을 위한 든든한 의지처가 된다. 심리상담 지원을 비롯해서 학교밖청소년들이 시간을 유익하게 보낼수 있는 프로그램을 운영하고 다양한 진로체험을 지원한다. 검정고시를 준비하는 청소년들에게도 응원의 손길을 보내고 있다.

2005년 개관한 청양수련원은 워크숍, 가족캠프 등 수련활동에 최적의 장소로 각광받고 있다. 대천해수욕장과도 가까워 하절기 예약전쟁을 치르기도 한다. 청소년수련시설 최우수 등급을 받은 이곳에서는 몰입형영어학습 최고의 효과가 있는 영어캠프가 인기다.

군포시는 청년들을 위한 공간인 청년공간 플라잉을 2024년 산본 4단지에 개관했다. 지하2층 지상4층의 이 공간은 청년들이 취업을 준비하고 창업을 통해 미래를 모색하는 다양한 실험을 할 수 있도록 설계된 공간이다. 영상제작, 음악, 요리, 창작활동을 하기 위해 공간을 필요로 하는 청년들에게 열린 공간이다. 25년 1월 10개의 스타트업이 입주를 마치고 내일의 유니콘이 되기 위해 사업을 시작했다.

Regular Education Support Policy
