군포시가 지난 3월 21일 시청 별관 회의실에서 ‘군포시 바둑팀’ 창단 기념식을 개최했다.

이날 행사는 하은호 군포시장, 이학영 국회 부의장, 김귀근 군포시의회 의장, 서정영 군포시체육회장, 문영근 군포시바둑협회장 및 임직원, 선수단 등 40여 명이 참석한 가운데 창단 경과보고, 선수 소개, 기념사 및 축사, 축하영상, 기념촬영 순으로 진행됐다.

군포시 바둑팀은 세미 실업팀 형태로 운영되며, 단장은 최재훈 군포시 행정지원국장, 부단장은 문영근 군포시바둑협회장이 임명됐다. 군포시바둑협회 임병만 사무장이 감독, 김영민 이사가 코치를 맡아 팀을 이끈다.

선수단은 남자 4명, 여자 2명으로 임지혁, 최우수, 박지웅, 백운기, 조은진, 김지수 등 대한바둑협회 랭킹 2위부터 26위까지의 실력자들로 이뤄졌다. 이들은 대한바둑협회가 주관하는 최상위 아마추어 리그인 KBF 바둑리그 우승, 세계아마선수권 출전, 전국체전 금메달 등 각종 대회에서 눈에 띄는 성과를 거둔 바 있다.

군포시 바둑팀은 지역의 바둑문화 발전과 바둑 인재 발굴·육성에 기여하고, 군포 시민에게 바둑의 즐거움과 가치를 전달하는 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

군포시는 전문체육 진흥 도모 및 군포시 바둑 위상 제고를 위해 바둑팀 운영에 필요한 예산 9,900여만 원을 군포시바둑협회에 지원하고 있다,
