군포시가 지난 3월 31일 오후 군포역 앞 항일독립만세운동 기념탑 일대에서 106주년 ‘군포 3·31만세운동 기념행사’를 개최했다.

군포시가 주최하고 광복회 군포시지회와 (사)한국예총 군포지부가 공동주관한 이번 기념행사 참가자들은 항일독립만세운동 기념탑 일대에서 106년 전 군포장에 울려퍼진 만세운동을 재연했다.

군포시는 1919년 3월 31일 2,000여명의 우리 선조들이 군포장에 모여 대한독립만세를 외치며 행진하다 일본군의 발포에 맞서 싸운 역사적 사건을 기념하고 독립만세운동의 숭고한 정신을 기리기 위해 이번 행사를 개최했다.

이날 행사는 만세운동 재연에 이어 독립선언서 낭독, 유공자 및 공모전 수상자 시상, 기념공연, 3·1절노래, 만세삼창 등의 순으로 진행됐다.

군포시는 ‘3·31만세운동 기념 미술·백일장 전국 공모전’을 개최, 청소년들이 우리 선열들의 애국과 희생 정신을 되새기고, 3·31만세운동 및 역사에 대한 생각을 엿볼 수 있는 계기를 마련했다.

수상 작품들은 3월 28일부터 4월4일까지 항일독립만세운동 기념탑 일대에 전시될 예정이다.

하은호 군포시장은 “106년 전 군포장에서 하나 되어 대한독립만세를 외치던 3·31만세운동은 우리가 꼭 기억하고 계승해야하는 자랑스러운 역사이자 정신”이라며, “우리도 후손들이 긍지를 가질 수 있도록 더 나은 군포를 만들어 가기 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
