과천시가 환경부 주관 ‘2025년 토양‧지하수 지역현안 해결 지원사업’ 공모사업에 선정돼 국비1억7,000만 원을 확보했다.
과천시는 전액 국비사업인 이번 사업을 통해 올해 11월까지 뒷골지역 지하수 내 불소 오염의 원인을 정밀 분석하고, 저감 및 관리 방안을 마련할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
‘토양‧지하수 지역현안 해결 지원사업’은 환경부 산하 한국환경산업기술원이 지역의 토양 및 지하수 오염 문제 해결을 위해 기술적 지원을 제공하는 사업이다. 공모에 선정된 지자체는 오염 원인 조사부터 해결 방안 수립까지 전 과정에 대한 사업비 지원을 받는다.
과천동 뒷골지역의 지하수는 과천시에서 관리하는 먹는물 공동시설을 통해 공급되지만, 과천시에서 운영하는 뒷골지하수(과천동 산28-4)는 수질검사 결과 불소 농도가 기준치를 초과하는 사례가 지속적으로 발생해 주민 불편이 컸다. 이에 따라 과천시는 오염원 분석과 함께 실효성 있는 개선 대책을 수립해 안전한 지하수 이용을 도모할 계획이다.
