경기도 31개 시군 1만1,583명(선수 8,170명, 임원 3,413명)의 선수단이 참가해 경기도 가평 일원에서 지난 5월 15일부터 17일까지 3일 간 진행된 제71회 경기도체육대회에서 화성특례시가 1부에서, 포천시가 2부에서 각각 종합우승했다.

화성시는 올해 처음으로 정식종목으로 채택된 야구에서 종목 우승을 달성했고, 수영과 배구, 검도와 궁도, 야구 등 주요 종목 5개에서 1위를 차지해 성남시와 수원시를 제치고 3년 연속 선두 자리를 지켰다.
