군포시가 최근 국토부에서 주관한 철도지하화 컨설팅 결과를 포함해 국토부 종합계획 반영을 위한 철도지하화 제2차 사업제안서를 지난 5월 28일 경기도에 제출했다.
군포시는 경기도 및 국토교통부와 협의를 통해 2025년 12월 철도지하화 통합개발 종합계획에 포함될 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 할 계획이다.
군포시는 지난 10월 국토교통부에 제출한 1차사업(선도) 제안서와 달리 안산선(4호선)을 포함한 철도지하화 및 상부개발 추진전략과, 경부선(1호선) 금정~당정, 안산선(4호선) 금정~대야미 구간에 대한 역별 특색에 맞춘 개발 구상안을 사업제안서에 포함시켰다.
군포시는 2012년부터 경부선 7개 자치단체 공동협약을 통해 경부선 철도 지하화에 대한 필요성을 적극적으로 정부에 요청해 왔다. 2024년 초 철도지하화 통합개발 특별법 제정에 따라 철도지하화 사업의 추진근거가 마련됐다.
군포시는 2024년 10월 종합계획 반영을 위한 용역에 착수, 경부선과 안산선 지하화에 대한 검토를 면밀히 수행하며, 경기도 및 국토교통부 등과 지속적인 소통을 통해 군포시의 사업제안서를 완성했다.
군포시는 금정역을 중심으로 상업, 복합주거, 업무시설, 주거 및 문화복지 시설 등 해당 역세권별 수요에 맞춘 사업개발 방향을 제안, 향후 지하화 추진 시 환경개선뿐 아니라 도시발전 및 도시경쟁력 강화로 군포시 인구감소 문제 해결에 대한 하나의 방안을 제시했다.

Gunpo City submitted the 2nd underground railway project proposal to Gyeonggi Province on May 28 to reflect the results of the underground railway consulting recently conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in the comprehensive plan of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Gunpo City plans to do its best to include it in the integrated development plan for underground railways in December 2025 through consultation with Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Unlike the 1st project (leading) proposal submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in October, Gunpo City included in the project proposal a strategy for promoting underground railways and upper development, including the Ansan Line (Line 4), and a development plan tailored to the characteristics of each station for the Geumjeong-Dangjeong section of the Gyeongbu Line (Line 1) and the Geumjeong-Daeyami section of the Ansan Line (Line 4). Since 2012, Gunpo City has actively requested the government to bury the Gyeongbu Line through a joint agreement with seven local governments on the Gyeongbu Line. The basis for promoting the underground railroad project was established in early 2024 with the enactment of the Special Act on Integrated Development of Underground Railroads.
In October 2024, Gunpo City began work on a service for reflecting the comprehensive plan, closely reviewed the underground railroad project on the Gyeongbu Line and Ansan Line, and completed Gunpo City’s business proposal through continuous communication with Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Gunpo City proposed a business development direction tailored to the needs of each station area, such as commercial, mixed-use housing, business facilities, and residential and cultural welfare facilities centered on Geumjeong Station, and presented a plan to solve the problem of population decline in Gunpo City by not only improving the environment but also enhancing urban development and urban competitiveness when promoting underground railroads in the future.
