과천시가 ‘과천시 청소년의 날’을 맞아 지난 5월 31일 청소년수련관에서 청소년상 시상식과 청소년예술제를 개최했다.

과천시는 지난해 ‘청소년의 날 조례’를 제정하고, 매년 5월 마지막 토요일을 ‘과천시 청소년의 날’로 지정했다. 올해 행사는 조례 제정 이후 처음으로 청소년의 날에 열려 더욱 의미를 더했다.

청소년과 시민 등 100여 명이 참석한 이번 행사 시상식에서는 ‘2025 경기도 청소년상’ 수상자인 △나라사랑 부문 양채영(과천청소년문화의집) △봉사 부문 배주왕(학교밖청소년센터) △개척 부문 전예찬(학교밖청소년센터)에게 상이 수여되고, △윤숙지(청소년지도위원) △과천시청소년재단에게 청소년 성장·보호유공 표창이 수여됐다.

청소년이 감수성과 역량을 발휘할 수 있도록 마련된 올해 청소년예술제는 음악, 문예, 대중문화 3개 부문 6종목 경연이 진행돼 관내 초·중·고등부 청소년 90여 명이 참여해 그동안 갈고닦은 실력을 선보였다.

경연 결과는 6월 5일 과천시청 누리집을 통해 발표됐다. 종목별 최우수 수상자에게는 오는 8월에 개최되는 ‘제33회 경기도 청소년예술제’에 과천시 대표로 참가할 수 있는 자격이 주어진다.

이번 행사는 친환경 컨셉으로 참석 청소년들에게 텀블러 지참을 권장하고, 주최 측에서도 다회용컵을 준비하는 등 일회용품 사용을 최소화한 점이 눈길을 끌었다.

신계용 과천시장은 “이번 행사가 과천시 청소년들에게 예술적 재능과 끼를 펼칠 기회의 장이 되었길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 청소년들이 자유롭게 도전하고 성장할 수 있는 환경을 만들기 위해 노력하겠다”라고 말했다.

Gwacheon City held the Youth Awards Ceremony and Arts Festival at the Youth Training Center on May 31 to celebrate ‘Gwacheon City Youth Day.’

Gwacheon City enacted the ‘Youth Day Ordinance’ last year and designated the last Saturday of May as ‘Gwacheon City Youth Day.’ This year’s event was held on Youth Day for the first time since the ordinance was enacted, making it even more meaningful.

At the awards ceremony, attended by about 100 youth and citizens, awards were given to the winners of the ‘2025 Gyeonggi Youth Award’: Yang Chae-young (Gwacheon Youth Culture Center) in the Love of Country category, Bae Ju-wang (Out-of-School Youth Center) in the Service category, and Jeon Ye-chan (Out-of-School Youth Center) in the Pioneer category, and Yoon Sook-ji (Youth Guidance Committee Member) and Gwacheon Youth Foundation were awarded commendations for their contributions to youth growth and protection.

This year’s Youth Arts Festival, which was designed to allow youth to demonstrate their sensitivity and capabilities, featured competitions in six categories: music, literature, and popular culture. About 90 youth from elementary, middle, and high schools in the region participated and showcased their skills that they had been honing.

The results of the competition were announced on the Gwacheon City Hall website on June 5. The grand prize winners in each category will be given the opportunity to represent Gwacheon City in the ‘33rd Gyeonggi Youth Arts Festival’ to be held in August. This event attracted attention for its eco-friendly concept, encouraging youth to bring their own tumblers, and minimizing the use of disposable items by preparing reusable cups by the organizers.
