경기도의회 김성수 의원(더불어민주당, 안양1)이 대표 발의한 ‘경기도 자전거 이용 활성화에 관한 조례 일부개정조례안’이 지난 7월 17일 열린 제385회 임시회 건설교통위원회 제2차 회의에서 원안대로 통과됐다.

이번 조례 개정안의 핵심내용은 경기도내 6,086km에 달하는 자전거도로 중 80% 이상을 차지하고 있는 자전거·보행자 겸용도로를 점진적으로 자전거 전용도로 또는 전용차로로 전환하겠다는 것.

주요 개정 내용은 △자전거 이용 활성화 계획 수립 시 전용도로·전용차로 확충 계획 의무 반영, △신규 자전거도로 설치 시 전용도로·전용차로 우선 설치, △기존 자전거·보행자 겸용도로의 전용도로·전용차로 전환 지원 등이다.

김성수 의원은 “전체 자전거 교통사고는 감소하는 추세지만, 자전거와 보행자 간 사고는 해마다 소폭 증가하고 있다”며, “보행자와 자전거 이용자 모두가 안심하고 이동할 수 있도록 자전거 전용도로와 전용차로 확대에 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.

한편, 이번 조례 개정안은 오는 7월 23일 제385회 임시회 본회의에서 최종 의결될 예정이며, 통과 시 이르면 오는 8월부터 본격 시행될 전망이다.

The ‘Gyeonggi Province Bicycle Use Promotion Ordinance Partial Revision Bill’ proposed by Gyeonggi Provincial Assemblyman Kim Seong-su (Democratic Party of Korea, Anyang 1) passed as is at the 2nd meeting of the 385th extraordinary session Construction and Transportation Committee held on July 17.
