과천시가 지난 7월 18일 시민회관 소극장에서 ‘기업과 시민이 함께 만드는, 머물고 싶은 도시 과천’ 주제로 ‘과천 미래 100년 포럼’을 개최했다.

이번 포럼에는 시민, 기업인, 도시계획 전문가 등 250여 명이 참석해 과천의 미래 비전과 산업 전략에 대해 열띤 논의를 펼쳤다.

과천시는 이날 포럼에서 지속가능한 도시 발전과 미래산업 유치를 위한 전략을 모색, 과천의 강점을 강화하고 약점을 보완해 미래산업 중심 도시로 나아가겠다는 의지를 피력했다.

주제 발표에 나선 최민성 델코리얼티그룹 대표는 푸드테크, 바이오, 제약, 헬스케어 테크, 스마트시티 사물인터넷, 그린테크 및 재생에너지 등 과천이 주목할 미래산업을 제시했다. 그는 이를 실현하기 위한 경영환경 조건으로 교통, 친환경 인프라, 스마트 도시 기반, 정책 지원 등을 강조했다.

종합 토론에서는 이승일 서울시립대 교수가 좌장을 맡아 과천지식정보타운기업협의회 정병율 회장, 과천미래100년자문위원회 이한구 위원, 과천도시공사 박호동 처장, 한국도시계획가협회 김동근 부회장, 과천도시공사 박호동 사업계획처장, 과천시 지역경제과 이상욱 과장이 패널로 참여해 다양한 의견을 제시했다.

정병율 회장은 “기업과 함께하는 미래지향적 도시로 발전하기 위해서는 교통, 주거, 공간계획 등 계획단계에서부터 체계적인 수립이 필요하다”라고 강조했다. 이한구 위원은 “과천은 양자컴퓨터, 인공지능, 로봇, 합성 생물학 등 첨단 기술 집약적인 산업이 자리 잡기 좋은 도시”라며, “좋은 인재와 기업이 함께할 수 있는 산업 환경과 주거 공간 조성해야 한다”고 밝혔다.

김동근 부회장은 “기업은 도시의 지역총생산을 높이고, 그 이익은 주민들에게 돌아가게 된다”며, 경기도 부천시의 기업유치사례를 통해 기초자치단체가 할 수 있는 기업 유치 전략에 대해 설명했다.

박호동 처장은 “과천과천공공주택지구 내 기업 유치를 위해 현재 산업 클러스터 조성 및 창업 기업 육성 등 실질적인 전략을 추진 중”이라고 소개했다. 이상욱 과장은 “과천시는 현재 50여 개의 스타트업 기업을 육성하기 위해 지원하고 있으며, 소정의 성과를 보이고 있다”며 과천시의 주요 기업 정책에 대해 설명했다.

신계용 과천시장은 마무리 발언에서 “과천이 비전 있는 기업의 터전이 되어, 시민과 기업이 협력하는 살기 좋은 도시로 함께 성장하길 기대한다”고 말했다.

At this forum, 250 people including citizens, businessmen, and urban planning experts attended and had a heated discussion on Gwacheon’s future vision and industrial strategy.
