경기도교육청(교육감 임태희)이 지난 7월 22일 경기자동차과학고등학교(교장 김임식)에서 ‘지역 연계 상생형(경기협약형)·하이테크 특성화고’ 및 협약형 특성화고 합동 발대식’을 개최했다.

‘지역 연계 상생형(경기협약형)·하이테크 특성화고’는 경기 미래형 직업교육 모델학교로 △초지역적 협력(지자체) △초산업연계형 교육(기업) △초계열형 교육(교육청) △초학급적 유연성(학교) △초밀착형 연계(대학)의 다섯 축으로 산업 인재 양성과 지역 성장 견인을 목표로 한다.

‘협약형 특성화고’는 교육부가 지역 산업 수요를 반영해 지자체·산업체·교육청 간 협약을 바탕으로 운영하는 직업계 고등학교로 올해 경기자동차과학고가 전국 10개교 중 1곳으로 선정되어 거점학교 역할을 주도하게 된다.

경기도교육청은 경기 미래형 직업교육 모델학교와 선도지구, 협약형 특성화고를 통해 도내 100여 개 직업계고와 지자체, 기업, 대학과 유기적으로 협력하는 지속가능한 직업교육 생태계를 구축할 계획이다.

이날 행사에는 임태희 경기도교육감을 비롯해 경기도청, 경기도의회, 경기도경제과학진흥원, 경기상공회의소, 협약형 특성화고 컨소시엄, 경기협약형․하이테크 특성화고, 미래형 직업교육 선도지구 교육지원청 등 관계자 150여 명이 참석해 지역 중심 직업교육 생태계 조성을 위한 협력 의지를 다졌다.

임태희 경기도교육감은 “오늘 특성화고의 미래를 설명하는 모습을 보면서 뿌듯함과 울렁거림을 느꼈다. 경기자동차과학고가 하나의 모델일 수 있겠지만, 이 자리가 모든 특성화고의 새로운 방향을 설정하는 데 의미 있는 자리가 되기를 소망한다”며, “특성화고 학생들에게 꿈이 되는 직업교육이 이뤄지기를 바란다. 일하면서 배우고, 또 새로운 미래를 스스로 만들어가는 특성화고의 특성이 좋은 모델로 만들어지기를 응원하고 그렇게 정책을 펴겠다”고 말했다.

임태희 교육감은 이어서 “경기자동차과학고 학생 모두 개인의 발전과 함께 세계적인 미래 모빌리티 자동차 분야를 선도하는 인재로 성장하길 기원하고 응원하겠다”면서 “미래를 책임질 모든 특성화고 학생들에게 박수를 보내며, 협약형 특성화고와 선도지구가 펼칠 여러 정책 방향이 공감대를 이루고 크게 빛을 발하기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
