과천시지속가능발전협의회는 지난달 27일, 과천농협(부림동) 대강당에서 ‘지역농업과 건강한 먹거리 확보 방안-과천의 도전’이라는 주제의 토론회를 열고 기후 위기와 식량 불안 시대에 대응하기 위한 ‘과천형 먹거리 전략’을 논의했다. 이날 토론회에는 과천시지속가능발전협의회 위원과 시민 120명이 참석했다.

토론회에서는 농업 기반 축소와 외부 의존적 공급 구조 등 과천의 취약성이 지적되며, 도시의 먹거리 자립과 회복력 확보가 시급하다는 시사점이 제기됐다.

주제 발표에서는 농업 인구 감소와 고령화, 영세농 위주의 구조로 인해 과천의 생산 기반이 약해지고 있다는 분석이 제시됐다. 이에 따라 도시농업·스마트농업 등 새로운 도시형 생산 모델 구축, 공공·복지 급식에서 지역 농산물 활용을 확대하는 공공 급식 체계 강화가 핵심 대안으로 언급됐다.

아울러 참석자들은 생산‧유통‧소비 전 과정을 통합 관리할 전담 거버넌스 구축을 강조하며, 기후·재난 상황에서도 안정적인 공급이 가능한 ‘회복력 있는 도시 먹거리 체계’가 필요하다고 의견을 모았다.
