과천시는 시 승격 40주년을 맞아 3월31일까지 정보과학 도서관에서 특별 도서전을 연다. 4층 문학 미디어센터에서 '40권의 책으로 만나는 과천의 40년’을 주제로 열린다. 대출도 가능하다.

이와 함께 3개 분야로 구성된 이번 도서전은 1986년 시 승격 이후 현재까지 과천의 변화와 발전 과정을 책과 기록을 통해 살펴볼 수 있는 등 과천의 역사와 문화, 그리고 시민들의 삶을 조명할 수 있다.

'연보로 보는 과천의 변천사'에서는 관내 기관과 학교의 창립 과정, 시대별 주요 사진, 도시 성장의 흐름과 성과를 집대성한 기록을 한눈에 살펴볼 수 있다. '여기, 우리 동네'에서는 과천시지와 마을별로 기획·발간된 자료집을 통해 지역의 역사와 지리, 문화적 특성을 소개한다.

'글과 사진으로 보는 과천 사람'에서는 문예지, 문집, 사진집 등을 통해 이웃의 시선으로 바라본 과천의 삶과 기억을 담고, 과천을 매개로 살아가는 다양한 사람들의 이야기를 전한다.

도서관 관계자는 "이번 도서전을 통해 많은 시민이 지역의 역사와 문화를 되새기고, 과천과 공동체에 대한 자긍심을 느끼는 계기가 되기를 바란다"며 "시민들에게 다양한 문화적 경험을 지속해서 제공하는 데 힘쓰겠다"고 말했다.

Gwacheon City Holds Special Book Exhibition Celebrating 40th Anniversary of City Status

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its city status, Gwacheon City is holding a special book exhibition at the Information Science Library until March 31st. The exhibition, titled "40 Years of Gwacheon through 40 Books," will be held in the Literature Media Center on the 4th floor. Books are available for loan.

The exhibition, divided into three sections, will explore the changes and development of Gwacheon since its city status in 1986 through books and records, illuminating the history, culture, and lives of its citizens.

"A Chronological History of Gwacheon" showcases the founding of local institutions and schools, key photographs from each era, and comprehensive records documenting the city's growth and achievements. "Here, Our Neighborhood" introduces the region's history, geography, and cultural characteristics through the Gwacheon City Journal and collections curated and published by each neighborhood. "Gwacheon People in Words and Photos" showcases the lives and memories of Gwacheon through the eyes of local residents, presenting literary magazines, anthologies, and photo collections. It also shares the stories of the diverse people who live in Gwacheon.

A library official stated, "We hope this book fair will provide an opportunity for many citizens to reflect on the region's history and culture and feel a sense of pride in Gwacheon and its community. We will continue to strive to provide diverse cultural experiences for our citizens."
