 의왕시는 14일 부곡동 주민센터에서 한국토지주택공사(LH)와 함께 소각장 설치 관련 주민설명회를 개최해 최근 국토교통부에서 승인 고시된 자원회수시설(폐기물처리시설) 설치 계획을 원점에서 재검토한다고 밝혔다.

설명회에서 주민들은 사전에 주민을 대상으로 충분한 설명이 이뤄지지 않은 점, 왕송호수 환경 오염 우려와 주거환경 악화 가능성 등을 제기하며 설치 계획 재검토를 주장했다.

이에 시는 상반기 중 소각장 설치 관련 타당성 용역을 추진하고 주민과 전문가, 시의원 등이 참여하는 입지선정위원회를 꾸려 다양한 의견을 수렴한 뒤 최종 입지를 결정할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

안치권 부시장은 "의왕시에서 발생한 폐기물 처리 시설은 꼭 필요하지만 시민들의 공감과 동읭 없이는 사업 추진이 어렵다"는 점을 분명히 하며 "처음부터 다시 시작한다는 마음으로 상반기 중 소각장 설치에 대한 조사용역을 발주해 입지와 적절 물양에 대한 용역을 다시 한 번 면밀하게 검토하고 주민 의견을 적극 반영해 추진하겠다"고 말했다.

Uiwang City: "Reconsidering the Installation of an Incinerator Around Wangsong Lake"

Uiwang City announced on the 15th that it will reexamine the plan to install a resource recovery facility (waste treatment facility), recently approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, after holding a public information session with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) at the Bugok-dong Community Center the previous day.

At the information session, residents raised concerns about the lack of sufficient information provided in advance, environmental pollution around Wangsong Lake, and the potential deterioration of the residential environment, and called for a reexamination of the plan.
